Hello. Good night. I’m here in Kissimmee, waiting from the 70.3 next sunday. I loved here. Very nice place. I doubt: What is better: bike check in on saturday (risk: rain, etc.) por sunday before 6.a.m. I never see it in my life: ALL Ironman branded races i’ve runned the bike check in is a day prior to the race.
Bike Check in. Athletes Check in and pick up: friday and saturday. SO. .its possible bring the bike in race Day. Unusual. But it seems intersting. Another option. But…it can be a mess.
Hi. Thanks. I probably Check in the bike on Sunday. It’s easy to do so? If a lot of People decide to Check in the morning it can be a mess…But, If they allow it, they must be prepared.
The guide does in fact say bike check-in is optional for Saturday. With the possibility of thunderstorms for Saturday evening/night I’m thinking Sunday morning is the best bet. My bike can have the other queen bed in my room, maybe she’ll treat me nice on race day.
It helps to read the guide. Outside of local races, they always require you to check in the bike a day before so this is a first for me. Sorry, that’s my fault for not fully reading the athlete guide.
They don’t take pictures of your bike, like they do at full IM’s…so there is not a line. I just walked into transition with my bike, put it on the rack and got my stuff ready.
Ok. It’s the easy way. I runned a lot of IM and 70.3 and it’s the firts time I see it. In Brazil we have a lot of races where the bike check in is in race’s day, but with a limited ahletes: 600 MAX.
Tomorrow i will watch the race briefing. But i imagine that the race in Haines city dont use transitions bags. You just put your gear in a block assigned to you nexte to your bike. It’s correct?
Correct…no transition bags like there would be in a full Ironman. You will put your shoes, helmet, visor, etc. near your bike. See you out there tomorrow!
I don’t care what other 70.3s do, Saturday bike check in is OPTIONAL and I will be bringing my bike Sunday morning. A lot of the prep I would do in transition will already be done…e.g., pump up my tires at my car, all fluids on, nutrition loaded, etc. Saves time in my opinion.
You are right. It save times. I saw the place. Very wide. You must go to your bike anyway in race Day. These race dont use transitions bags (wich is best: save time), so its no need to do a bike Check a Day before.
