70.3 Branson - Wheel choice?

Anyone have experience with different wheel combinations for this course ? Is wind a factor ?
Options:
1.) Super 9 Clincher/808 (if so, cassette ?)
2.) 808/808
3.) 808/404
4.) 404/404

Thanks,

RG

Option 1 and run a 11/27 or 11/28 cassette as you will need it for the hills and descending at 50 mph. Great bike course.

I ran a disc and deep front no issues twice there. Just don’t carry anything extra on the bike, you just need one bottle. The hills are not that steep just long grinders for most of the course. I would strongly suggest a power meter for this course and pay attention to your watts on the hills but more importantly hammer all the downhills flats.

Perfect, that’s the answer I was hoping for. Just was worried about getting blown around on the open highway bombing the descents.

Still a ways out but I plan to run my standard set up which is a Flo 60/90 with the 90 covered in the back with a 11-28 cassette. I haven’t been to Branson since I was a little nipper but really looking forward to the race.

Yeah, looks like a great bike course. Figured I’d get the setup dialed in and practice on some similar terrain over the next couple months.

Better find a different race, last year was IM Branson’s last hurrah.

Rev3 picked it up.

I don’t remember it being very windy last year. You can go as fast as your nerves allow down the descents, there are ZERO turns on them and the High Road is closed off. I hit a max of 41 but I wasn’t in the aerobars and didn’t have aerowheels or an aero helmet.
