I’m looking to buy Tri frame. I do not want to spend more than $2K on the frame. Is Cervelo P2 61cm the only frame that will fit me? What other “big” Tri bikes are available as a frame for around $2K?
What other bike/frame would fit me if money was no object?
do you think you’re proportionately average in torso versus leg length? and what sort of position do you intend to ride? shallower, or steep with a flatter back? specifically, are you going to ride with a position like erin baker in this photo series, or are you going to look like most of the guys in this photo series?
You can look at my profile to see an example of a 58 P2 set up for a 6’4" rider with 37" inseam. But all that shows you is that it works for me and many of the 6’4" guys here will be on 61s. And I’d like to go to a 56 P3 to loose 35mm off the head tube.
For you - the best route would be to get fitted by someone with an adjustable fit bike, Slowman (Dan) has posted many articles on the topic. Then you choose a frame/components that fill in the dots.

I would say proportionally average. Definitely looking into steeper position with flatter back but hopefully still comfortable position. I was nicely fitted on 61cm P3, but not sure about the taller head tube on P2. They did not have the P2 in stock so I couldnt try it. Thats is the problem, not many shops have 60/61 frames in stock.
the p2 has 2cm of extra head tube. which bike is better for you? it’s hard to know unless you’re properly fit. but the difference between a -6° stam and a -17° stem almost sucks up that 2cm difference. so in reality, no big deal, unless you’re on the edge of these bikes being either too big or too small for you. for most people your size the p2 is going to be an easier fit, all things considered. but a lot goes into that calculus. if you’re using high profile armrests, such as a profile t2 bar, then you might find it hard to get a p2 low enough. but on average a p2 is a pretty safe choice.
I’m 6’4" and just got the new big DA. It is plenty big. I’m on the middle sized stem and will most likely end up on the short stem. Seat tip about 1cm behind bottom bracket. Plenty of room on this thing

I’m 6’ 3.5" and have been fit to a Trek Equinox TTX 9.9 in size Large. I know the Equinox 9.5 they have a size XL in and might be one that you can see if you can be fit on. Again, you won’t know for sure unless you go and actually have a fitting done, but it’s a start.

TTX has XL size but unfortunately they do not have it as a frame option only. I wouldnt mind to spend more than $2k on the frame, at the same time I do not want to buy a bike where I would be upgrading parts.

Is the DA available as a frame only? I was looking on FELTs website and I couldn’t find any info on it. I was also turned away by the integrated stem. Maybe I should look into that again.
Have you tried looking at a Guru Crono tri bike. I have one, and it is in your price range from frameset. They measure your body and make the bike to fit you!!! B
I ride an '01 or '02 (don’t remember exactly which) 61 P2K that I’ve been very comfortable on. Don’t know if it’s the same geometry as the current P2K, but I’m the same height and inseam as you. I didn’t do a whole lot of sitting-on-the-bike comparison shopping, but I did look at the then-current equivalent Felt and it didn’t fit me nearly as well. I tested both bikes at the same FIST-certified dealer.
Im 6’4" and ride a 59 Blade. I sure this is out of your range and they dont make the frame any more(unless the new Saber is the odl Blade), but maybe a used one.
I’m pretty sure that it is available as a frame/fork/seatpost combo. The only reason I didn’t get just the frame/fork is that I got a killer deal on a complete bike. Give your Felt dealer a call. I’ve not put many miles on mine yet, but being too small is not an issue I’ll have.
