Help me out IM’ers
I just finished IMCA on Saturday, so this is a rest / recovery week for me. Starting next week there are 5 weeks til my “13 weeks to a sub 13 hour IM” training schedule starts. What should I be doing. Should I just start the training plan early, say, do weeks 1-4, rest a week and then start the formal training plan again?
I don’t want to burn out, but I am very serious about completing this IM in around 13 hours.
Do like Lance; Eat Donuts, Drink Beer, Hang out at the beach (the Wedge?), and date Rock Stars. Ha!
I am doing the Multisports.com 9 week plan for IMWI. What I do is look at the plan and make sure that I have built up to the first 3 weeks of the plan before it starts. For instance if the longest ride in the first 3 weeks is 5hrs, I will try and do 1 or 2 5+hr long rides before the plan starts. I do the same with swim and run. This year I will probably do 2 or 3 century rides before the plan even starts, but im also doing a half in july. I mainly concentrate on the long Ride, long Run, brick and long swim before the plan starts. I would take it easy this week for recovery and then ease back into training next week while monitoring how you feel.
Enjoy your rest and recovery week. If you need an additional couple of easy days, then do so. After that work on your base.
