5430 Long course - Should I use a Disc?

Hello, I am doing the 5430 Long course in Colorado next month. I was wondering if I should use a rear disc wheel. Is there anyone who has rode this course at this time of year, in general is it windy and is the bike course hilly (Looking at the information given, it does not look to like there are too many hills).

Thanks for the help,
John

Absolutely use the disc. Flat, fast course.

Wind isn’t usually bad during the bike. If it picks up at all, it’s usually in the afternoon.

It will be fine. There are tons of discs at all those 5430 races. Good luck. We should set up a ST meeting for that race too

Don’t use the disc. Lend it to me, I will trade you for a hed trispoke.

As others have said use the disc. It is a flat course. Wind usually isn’t a factor in the morning and hardly ever bad enough to not use the disc.

I think you should race on 5 pound, thick rimmed clinchers.

How ya been?

You wanna buy my zipp disc? I ordered zipp 808s today. And they are clinchers (gasp!!!).

why 808s on both front and rear instead of 808 front with disc rear? I know the 808 is almost as fast as a disc but I’ve never known you to settle for almost, so you must have a reason.
