You’re misunderestimating his regret threshold. If he actually regretted every bad decision, false assumption, overzealous authorization, unqualified nominee, unfit appointment, unwarranted defense, untenable statement or hubristic comment he’s made over the last 7 years, he’d probably be so incapacitated by guilt and remorse as to require years of extensive psychotherapy just to function at a basic level. He seems like a fairly resilient guy, though. I wouldn’t worry much about him.
