As we end the first day of 0 people in the US with Ebola, we have 41 more to go (double the incubation time is the rule) till the US will be classified Ebola free and the devastation wrought in this country by this enemy will be over. Maybe we can start another holiday VE day Victory over Ebola. All these dead should not be forgotten. I personally do not know anyone who contacted Ebola through this massive outbreak, but I understand I am one of the lucky. To those who lost loved ones, my prayers are with you and your family in this troubling time.
Part of me hopes that lady up in Maine gets it. She seems a bit bitchy to me. It would be sweet irony if ended up with the ebolas.

Sorry but disagree. Yeah I agree she is bitch, but she is one of the few sane voices against paranoia.

"The State Department has quietly made plans to bring Ebola-infected doctors and medical aides to the U.S. for treatment, according to an internal department document that argued the only way to get other countries to send medical teams to West Africa is to promise that the U.S. will be the world’s medical backstop.
Some countries “are implicitly or explicitly waiting for medevac assurances” before they will agree to send their own medical teams to join U.S. and U.N. aid workers on the ground, the State Department argues in the undated four-page memo, which was reviewed by The Washington Times."

Why why why? Why do we need to be the medical backstop? Why the world’s policeman? Why the lender of last resort? Why all of this to people who hate our country and can’t or won’t take care of themselves.

One of my favorite news headlines this week: Woman with Ebola being released from NJ hospital: WATCH LIVE NOW" from CNN.
People need to get their asses outside and away from the “news”.
“A lot of people talk about American exceptionalism. I’m a firm believer in American exceptionalism. You know why I am? It’s because of folks like this,” Obama said.
Of course anyone with a little memory might find this humorous.
I’ll add why why why do we have to be the dumping ground for other countries by making our borders not just open but open with free cookies and pie at the expense of real citizens.

I think the last time I watched TV news was Sep 11, 2001.
Even then it wasn’t “news”.

I don’t know when I stopped watching the news probably a decade or so ago when I stopped just sitting in front of TV and trying to find something to entertain myself by flipping through the channels. The “news” is pretty disturbing when you aren’t used to it. Whenever we go to my parents they often just have it on in the background and you can see it sort of freaking our kids out. So much so that we ask them to turn it off. Local news is particularly bad but it seems like the national news, at least the 24 hour channels are just as bad now. So little that is informative, it’s mostly “train wreck” material.

In the absence of perpetual crisis and conflict, people may accidentally wake up and realize that the existence of a ruling class is entirely ** unnecessary. The Oligarchy simply won’t stand for such betrayal and insolence!

Isn’t Maine’s state motto live free or die? They have to get off the fence and make choice.

New Hampshire. You were close though.
41 days? That’s nothing. And you posted this yesterday so it’s now 40 days.
Wait until the flu catches on and then everyone with a fever will start it all over. 42 days, 43 days, 44 days you see where I’m going?

Lucky this wasn’t a final Jeopardy question. ![]()
Maine state motto is “Dirigo”, which I believe is a native American language (Wabanaki?) term that means “I lead”. Right now we seem to be giving any state in the nation a run for their money in paranoia and fear.
The local newspaper is tracking every move this nurse makes. She’s up in Fort Kent which is about as in the sticks as you can get on the east coast. Breaking news is she’s gone for a bike ride! Pictures appear to suggest with a police escort. Probably the safest bike ride anyone has ever taken up there ![]()

I’ll add too despite all the fear and paranoia by the locals and others, judging by the pictures whenever she comes outside there is a scrum of reporters, photogs and cameramen around her. I image without them she’d probably not be within sneezing distance of anyone except the guy she’s shacked up with.
She’s scrappy and highly rational. What’s not to like!
