Anyone due to injury had to do all your run training on an eliptical or deep water running? This is for an IM. How did you do on race day. I held a 147 hr(i am 44) on an eliptical for 3hrs today for a long run. I decided I will be stubborn and not bag IMCDA,and if necessary do all my training in some other manner. yesterday was the first day I could run and actually stride in 2 months. Since my hips were reset(for lack of a better term)I had a great 3 miler but the pain was back. So…Anyone been reduced to this? I am up to 5000yrd swims and have done 4 centuries,I am just not willing to give up now. Thanks
Not that bad, but I’ve been changing my running back to what I did in high school (when I was way faster… not fast, but faster than I am now) , and have had a number of minor muscular injuries. I found that the ET helped me maintain my endurance, etc. But when I didn’t start back slowly enough…OUCH. So, now, I’ve been doing most of my miles, starting on the ET, finishing on the treadmill. (I sometimes do some stepper in between to help my hills.) I have been slowly increasing my STREET and track miles, hoping to do a half IM in September. Now, if I can keep from doing my usual thing and overdoing it…???
So far I’m up to 4 miles on the street (I started back with 1/2). I have a tri with 8k run this weekend. Here’s hoping…
Hopefully, someone out there with more experience, or a coach can give a more difinitive answer.
