i cannot comment directly on your question, but i’d note that the official prevalence of hiv/aids in africa is easily understated because it’s difficult to collect statistics not just because of the difficulty of reaching certain parts of the continent (especially uganda, which has been subject to civil war for god knows how long), but also because there’s a significant social stigma attached to hiv/aids, so people are reluctant to admit that they have it.
Everyone with AIDS is gay. All gays are Democrats. Washington DC is mostly Democrats and therefore this is true. My line of logic sounds pretty good to me.
I am sure some one will blame that on GBW as well!
Keep up, everything is Obama’s fault now that he’s been in office for 2 months.
I’m just astounded that in a developed nation, with all the education we have, access to healthcare and condoms, that this would be the case.
I know. It is incredibly sad. There is a big forgotten population in this country. Name your reason: poverty, race, no fathers in the home. Someday we will all stop pointing fingers and do something about it.
That makes about 18,000 cases for DC. The report says that the numbers are up 22% from 12,500 in 2006, so that’s actually a bit less than 3%. That said, it’s hard to tell since there are wide discrepancies in reported stats on AIDS (official number of people living with AIDS in the US is just under 600,000, but it’s believed that 1.1M is a better estimate…)
Either way, it’s a number that’s completely possible.

+1
The other day I was chatting with one of my bartenders who is quite a “player”. He is 23 years old, fit, attractive and he has what is known as “game”.
He told me he never uses condoms. He rarely gets turned down because of his disdain for condoms. At last count he has bedded 8 women since mid December.
His response to my befuddlement: “You can always tell if a girl has something”, referring to STDs.
I just walked away.

You shouldn’t…it’s on par with the number of unwanted teen pregnancies, which is a lot higher here than it is in Europe for instance.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Man, that’s absolutely maddening!

LOL Perhaps this is an essential component of having “game”?

The best thing we can do is to end the cycle of dependency. Unfortunately our government is adding programs to further grow the dependency.
**Can this be true? A rate of par with parts of Africa? **
I caught the article yesterday. It is hard to believe, but it’s true. There are a lot of sad facts about the nation’s capital, such as the large number of people that are homeless or living in poverty. Obviously drug use and the crime rate are also very high compared to other large cities.
Recently, I’ve been in a lot of conversations where the topic is do you want to go back and relive your high school or college years again. My answer is “Hell no!” because when you’re young, you’re stupid and this guy proves the point. Well, when you get older, you may not necessarily get smarter, but for most people, they at least get wiser.
Yep, this country is full of highly educated, logical people.
.

Well it's been repeatedly shown that the populous in DC, and "education", don't have much to do with one another.
The best thing we can do is to end the cycle of dependency.
Well, in many instances that is a good argument, but I fail to see what that has to do with the AIDs rate in DC. They aren’t getting AIDs because they just assume that they’ll collect welfare later.
This is a matter of public health and exactly where our money should be spent, not paying the bonuses of idiots on wall street.
As Barry said, cycle of dependancy has nothing to do with this. I could go on a rant about availability of condoms in schools, aggressively pushing sex education, etc but I’ll contain myself. Anyone who knows me on here already knows what I’ll say ![]()

HIV/AIDS is preventable. You use clean needles and wear a condom, it’s not rocket science. People need to take responsibility for their lives.
