know about roughly that would be…garwood and rimrock going out??
What is the significance of mile 28?
28 * 4 is ???
at 14mph i got toget there in 2 hours or i wont wake the 130 cutff for 56miles of bike
.
Well I do not know IMCDA bike profile & elevation… but it is not necesarily true.
a) the first quarter can be easy while the second quarter can be tough… therefore while you may average 14mph over the total bike course, it should take you less than 2 hours for the first (and third) quarter. & then more than 2 hours for the second (and forth) quarter
b) you also need to factor in the wind & when you will get tailwind and headwind if any…
So keep in mind bike profile & elevation as well as the weather condition.
Good luck!
Fred.
You would only need to average 14mph to meet cutoff if you were also at or near the swim cutoff as well, right? You have 6.5 hours to get through the swim and 56 miles of the bike according to the race schedule, as the first lap of the bike closes at 1:30pm. If you don’t swim well and will be near the cutoff, then your 14mph is pretty accurate, but if you are a 1:30 swimmer, you would have 5 hours to complete the first 56 and 9 hours to complete the entire bike. That would be more like 11.2mph for the first half and 12.5mph for the whole day for target paces.
Unless you are a slower swimmer and close to the swim cutoff, I think you are probably worried more than you need to be. Try to relax and enjoy your race.

no im a 2.15 swimmer
.
so you can’t swim…you can’t bike…gonna be a long walk I imagine?
Go get 'em Steve.
no i can run like hell…5 hour
.
Can’t do much about swim or bike speed at this point, so try to stay relaxed and enjoy the race. If you’re still going to be close to the cutoff on the bike, then push it a little harder between 30 - 56 and see what happens. If you’re in good shape due to a better than expected swim or a faster than anticipated early bike, then pace yourself for the day and enjoy. Good luck either way.

maybe right near the word …lake??
Looks about right from the visual. Did you see if anyone local has/is going to drive the course…maybe you could ask them to measure. Or maybe ask someone with the race where the nearest aid station is to 28. That should be pretty accurate.
Mike
I think the course will be marked every 10 miles - at least there were orange mile markers on the road at 10/20/30/40/50 (I think I saw them all when driving the course today - I know I saw most and they were within 0.5 of my car odometer). Aid stations “every 10 miles” but that can’t be right as its a 2 loop 56 mile course and they’ll have the same aids for each loop…Good luck!

NA Sports has a podcast where they answer all your questions about IMCDA.
mile 28 is in the meat of the hill section north of Hayden Lake.
Yeah, I know where it is, somewhere between stupidity and no where. Race with your heart and not some ST dweeb force loquacious ludicris laughable statisical analsyis of bike cut off times, wind speeds, grade, elevation and aero-bottle angle draft speed. Race to your own ability and dreams on Sunday.
I saw a few ST’s, LOL, in aero-helmets with wetsuits on testing the effecaciousness of the helmets during the swim, of course testing 14 different swim suits, 27 different goggles, 41 different caps and 74.5 differant swimming body angles.
Peace out!
