26.2 help

Hi all. My dad is planning on doing the Chicago 26 this October. He’s moving from flat Illinois to Lake of the Ozarks in a few weeks and will be doing his training there. My concern is that 1) he’s going to be 64 doing his 1st 26, but he’s been running for the last 30 something and call still kick my butt, and 2)all the steep hills down there. He mentioned that he could drive a short way to find a 1.5 mile stretch of flat. I’ve looked around and can’t find much info about training on steep hills for a flat land race. Obviously he’ll have an easier time that day, but I want him to be able to have 2 knees and all his toenails ( or at least the majority) in the meantime. Any help?? Thanks in advance:)

Actually, he said he’d NEVER do a marathon. I did my first last year, and when he found me the second time, the strangest response came out of his mouth. “I’m in next year!” Helped me get through the finish to find out if he was bs ing me! I couldn’t be more proud of the man that got me running.
