25th London Marathon Ladies Result

Well, Paula Radcliffe won the London Marathon by over 4 minutes to 2nd place. This is the fastest Ladies only race ever (that means no men to pace off of) at 2:17:41 and gives her the 3 fastest Ladies Marathon times of all time!

She acheived this including stopping to pee in the final few miles!

Awesome run by Paula. Dita took second place with a Romanian record.

p.s. She took cramp - she didn’t stop for a pee

Good to see her back on song.

That’s not what David Moorcroft stated, and she ran uninpeded for the remainder of the race after squatting and dampening the floor beneath her. Must have been a lactic flush

That’s a neat way to get rid of your lactic build-up!

as hellriegel said (more or less) - a professional should not stop to pee.

I think that was about Macca in Roth 2003.

Yeah, but she had the race well in hand. If she had lost i can see the criticism.

Styrrell

I’ve done both but I didn’t have TV cameras on me or millions or viewers to consider.

she apologised for it on the BBC.

Anyway we should count our selves lucky it was just a leak, Lemond riding the tour one year had more serious issues and there have been other runners that have not stopped for problems greater than taking a leak whilst in the lead…

All in all a good day at the office for PR, she looked like she was dieing on her ass through Canary Wharf but came back strong…

I’d say that was a strong performance, alright. Did you read her book yet? Very interesting about the build up to Athens and the problems she had but was unaware of at the time. Although she is a classic case study of training and racing through injuries instead of getting them addressed.

Whichever why you put it a very pleasant lady and an ambassador for the fight against drugs in sport.

I dont know whether I agree with the first part, she has Hartman on call basically 24/7 so I’d that she places a fair degree of weight in what he says so if she’s training I dont think its without others agreement.

That said I completely agree with you, how many other tri-lingual double firsts are there in Uk sports? I’m sure she’s not alone but she comes across as being very bright, switched on, articulate and really quite pleasant and hopefully this will finally put to bed all these people that continually give her shit about Athens and her performances in general.

yeah, she had one bad race at the wrong time, but giving her crap for that race is just a joke. No other woman is even remotely close to her on the marathon right now.
It would be like giving Bekele crap for the 5000m in Athens. Yeah, he made a mistake, but wtf he is just in his own league right now and so is Paula.

Andrew, I take it from your first comment that you haven’t read her book, or have forgotten the last section. She does indeed have unparalleled access to Hartman but she is driven to the extent that she doesn’t listen to her body but to her heart.

“tri-lingual double firsts”.

Not sure what that means. Or at least what her linguistic abilities relevance is here.
