"24" jumped the shark?

As a long time fan of 24 I find this season to be nearly unwatchable.

Has everyone become a PC wimp? Do you really think someone who
becomes a President to could so incredibly non decisive? Jon Voight
is the only character with any charisma. Jack has no personality. Would
he really be missed from the show if he dies from the pathogen?

Maybe the show has gone limp a long time ago. But I use to find the supporting
characters interesting, this year yeech…

Has the show played out the once interesting formula? Or am I missing
something deeper?

People have been saying this same thing every season. To the point that I think the phrase “jumped the shark” has itself jumped the shark.

There have been good seasons and bad seasons (all with varying degrees of reality and believability). Honestly, I think this season is one of the better ones, top 3 probably. I mean how many different plots/enemies can Jack stop? There are only so many believable opponents or enemies. I thought the group breaking into the White House was a bit absurd, but I really like this new direction. Plus, it has some relevance with the controversy surrounding Blackwater and all. I really like this plot line and this spin and am curious to see where it goes.

After all he has done for his country one would think that Jack Bauer has some credibility and that his patriotism is beyond reproach. Yet, every season he has to prove that he’s the real deal. Doesn’t seem fair. If I was Jack I would buy a house in St. Tropez and tell the U.S. to go to hell.

I am about 1/2 way through Season 6 right now and haven’t seen any of the current season. What you say is hilarious to me. Very true. Clearly, everyone on that show should just say, “Thank you, Jack,” and go about their own damn business.

I say exactly the same thing every season! I am getting a little tired of this aspect of the show.

Then he can work for Sarkozy. We’ll film it all and call it “vingt-quatre”.

How did Jenine Garafolo make it on the show, WTH! That is ruining it for me.

LA-LA-LA-LA I can’t hear you…I’m not listening!!! Why can’t you put —SPOILER---- before you write this stuff?

LOL

I’m really laughing because Ricky Schroeder just entered the plot in Season 6 which I am watching now. I can never see him without thinking of Silver Spoons!

We’re going between season 1 on DVD and the current season and at this point, I think everyone on the show except for the FX team is kind of phoning it in at this point.

And the supporting characters really are lacking. Jaenine Garafalo actually wasn’t bad in the geek off with Chloe, but I’m really notcing the lack of characters like Sherry Palmer, George Mason, Ryan Chapelle, Berhooz, Edgar, whoever it was that Michelle Forbes played.

Also not enough Chloe (who I think has been off playing video games with Berhooz. Granted, I know they were probably going to have to limit her time this season because Mary Rathksjob just had a baby but she’s been totally missing for a couple hours now.

Better yet, to keep it real, perhaps the show would be named “La Semaine.” If Sarkosy were to promote a show where someone worked a 24 hour day there would be strikes throughout the country. 24 hours in a week is more realistic. Even the bad guys could take a two hour lunch with wine.

The president’s daughter is shaping up to be one of those characters you love!

The attractive female FBI agent that went off with Jack earlier in the show will end up doing something crazy.

Its merely a guilty pleasure for me. Is it believable, nope. Is the acting great, nope. Does it suck me in and entertain me, Hell Yeah.

Rick was excellent as Newt, Woodrow’s son in the movie Lonesome Dove. SOme of the best work he has done.

HMMM. I never saw Lonesome Dove. If it got you calling him Rick instead of “the Ricker” or just plain Ricky, than maybe I need to see it.

NEVER SEEN LONESOME DOVE???

Bern, you are missing a masterpiece.

Seriously, go buy the set if you like westerns. It’s in my top 5 movies for what that’s worth.

Just call it “35”.

I’ve never seen the show, but look at our current president. The show could be following the presidents. Give it 4 years, it will get better
