It looks like I have a 24 hour stopover in LA enroute from Auckland to Toronto…I arrive on at noon on a Monday and leave on the Tuesday afternoon.
Any suggestions on how to spend 24hrs in LA?

If you are flying through LAX there are plenty of Topless Bars just down the street from the airport. :o
Where are you staying? Will you be renting a car? You can’t get around LA without a car.
In Westwood (by UCLA) there’s a great cookie store called Diddie Reis (sp?). I always stop by there when I’m in LA.
Chris
There is an In And Out burder close to the Airport to!!!
Will probably be staying close to airport and am not planning to hire a car at this stage…
Get a taxi and go south of the airport to the beach areas for relaxation–beach, beer, and bikinis.
Grab some sleep. Best thing you could do in LA.
Go to the Getty museum if you can get there. Check out the public transit (metrolink trains, etc.)
I second the vote for visiting Westwood.
Definitely. If there is only one thing that you can do, by all means find an In-N-Out burger joint and eat there.
Change your flight to go thru SFO…I’ll pick you up at the airport. My bad for not seeing you in AKL in March.

If you go to In-N-out be sure to go hog wild and order a #1 double double, grilled onions, add pickles, animal style.
Looking for a good place to drink beer look no further than the Four Points Sherton (on Century Blvd. I’m almost positive) They have the best beer selection on that side of town.
For a truely unique and free experience take a drive (or $15 cab ride) down to Venice Beach Boardwalk about 8 miles from LAX. The people watching is worth the cab fare alone. TONS of good restraunts on Main Street in Santa Monica too.
Enjoy your stay.
I think there is an In n Out on Century Blvd. (the street that ends at LAX, On that same street is NUDE NUDES combine two recommendations and have a ball.
The thing to order is a Double Double Animal (Lots of extra goopy stuff. UMMMM UMMM.)
If you are an adkins fan, order it proten style. They replace the bun with lettuce leaves. Surprisingly good.
Note to Big Duke Six: This is what the clydes eat in So.Cal to make weight. (Mullets optional)
I Had a 24 hour stop in LA in March. Here’s what I did: Hit DSW sjoe warehouse sent my boyfriend searching one way, I went the other. Between the 2 of us we found 6 fabulous pairs of shoes for me! Steve Madden, Rampage- all my favories at discount prices. Thisa is a big deal as shoe shopping in Kona is non-existent. The we went to Macaroni Grill and met a friend for dinner. If you don’t share my shoe fettish then I don’t know what to tell you…kj
I hate to say it, but for the most part, you’re getting some pretty bad advice here.
Forget In-n-Out burger – it’s totally overrated and certainly not the one thing to do in the entire city of LA. You can skip Westwood, too.
Depending on whether you want to relax or sight see, I’d go with any of the following ideas: beach (either Manhattan Beach (south of LAX) or Venice and Santa Monica (north of LAX) – renting rollerblades is fun); Getty Museum (not the best collection, but worth seeing and an incredible building and setting up on top of the Santa MOnica mountains). I’d probably go to Venice and Santa Monica – you can walk from the beach to good shopping and restaurants at the end of the day.
