Will having a bigger draft zone influence the pro race at all? Does this rule difference make for “better” racing?
Oh wow that’s huge… Should make the race less tactical/more even effort, I’m predicting faster run splits as a result.
I think the fact that the WPRO get a 30min headstart over the AG will have a bigger impact. at least for the WPRO
It can be 100M but if no one enforces it it doesn’t matter.
Helps stronger cyclists IMO
.
I think so. Interesting decision.
Should it be enforced and the end result be altered by the rule I would hope that it would be spread to other events.

Who do you think would start using it at races? I agree this could be good, but 20m is pretty damn big. How small would a field need to be?
Should be an interesting race to see how things unfold, especially for a flat course (as it is to my understanding). Curious to see what happens on the mens side if a big pack forms (can form) with the large gap. 15 riding together is a 300 meter difference from front to back.
Bahrain is catching my interesting purely from a spectating standpoint. They are really hyping live coverage so it will be interesting to see what is actually delivered rather then the usual 2-3 cameras following the leaders, could launch an increase in production of live coverage for future races. If they can get close to what the ITU does (which would be hard to beat based on course logistics alone) it would be fun to watch. With Macca doing commentary it could be entertaining.

That’s the key in my eyes…that is a massive draft zone…no WTC race could ever enforce it.
This is one of those areas that if we had a viable organization of some sort we could push this agenda forward after internal discussion.
Set the rules and make the athletes play by them. Bottom line it would feel like an emotional return to the idea that everyone is racing the clock while racing themselves rather than the tactics that play out and the semi-legal drafting that already takes place.
Pro field: Check.
Big prize purse: Check.
WPRO get a huge head start over AG men: Check
Actively improving draft cheating: Check
It’s almost like Challenge are listening to what triathletes want!
Any more time to overtake?
Has to be right? Thats so much space
