Cant believe this will not have an impact of one sort or another.

I read somewhere (and I’ll try to find it) that 33,000 people left in state in January 2009.

NBD. It’s just a pissing match between the GOP and the Dems.

CA is not the only one.
At least 38 states and the District of Columbia have made, or have proposed making cuts affecting their state workforces. At least 24 states and the District of Columbia have instituted hiring freezes, ten have announced or proposed lay-offs, eleven have reduced or proposed reducing* *state worker wages, and several have delayed scheduled pay increases (including cost of living adjustments).

20,000 jobs? so what is that about 12,000 actual residents…

No problem. A heavier dose of liberal tax and spending should fix California’s budget woes in no time at all.

Only if it is Caltrans.

The California government will come up with a great scheme so everyone gets a check. Obama will approve a bail out package for them and other states will follow.

Quick someone email the CA legislature and tell them Australia’s plan to charge for every flush of your toilet! Revenue!

It is just a potential lay off notice. Letting the 20,000 or so employees that draw an income from the general fund that come July 1 there may be layoffs. This is more a political move on the Governator’s part than anything else. He is trying everything he can to put pressure on the knuckleheads in Sacramento to come to some sort of conclusion. The situation is making everyone in public service a little edgy. My wife works for a small county mental health dept and one of the things that is on the table is to raid a fund that was voted on by citizens to increase services to mentally ill population.

The hold up is the tax increases, the Republicans swore to not raise taxes and are looking for ways to cut costs rather than increase revenues.

The estimated tax increase calculator is here: http://www.sacbee.com/1098/story/1627728.html?mi_rss=Top+Stories

If you put in your income and how much your cars are worth it will show you your yearly tax increase from the state.

Really? Can more leave and take friends with them?

No worries, with the potential release of 53,000 inmates, there’ll be plenty of peeps to “steal” their places here in Cali!

Thats a very conservative, market based approach to a problem, why would you have an issue with that?

At least they won’t charge the flush by weight. Oh man that would suck.
