2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Tickets

I am gonna ride my bike there.

I did London 2012 first day.

I had tickets to Paris for 3 events but was in Riyadh and I’m gutted I missed that.

I’ll be in France for the winter for sure, maybe Oz before that.

I went to a few events in 2010 Vancouver. It was a fantastic experience, but was close enough that travel wasn’t really an issue or burden.

I attended the 2012 games in London. Ask me how I got to see men/women road race, tt, and tri for free!

Rowing, swimming and womens beach volleyball I had to pay for but well worth it.

Actually it shouldn’t be much of an issue. The best traffic LA has had was when it hosted the 1984 games. More recently there was a road construction event that was billed as carmageddon. Ended up being one of the easiest days to get around LA. Basically, if you tell the LA locals that traffic will be a sh*tshow and to stay home, they listen.

Signed up. Wish I’d gone to Paris 2024.

We’re signed up.

Thanks to my mom, my sisters and I got to go see parts of the 1984 games in LA. My brother lived there at the time, so lodging and transportation were taken care of. We saw swimming (early rounds), track and field including the 1st women’s marathon and some of Carl Lewis and Edwin Moses’s medal runs, and early rounds of gymnastics and volleyball.

It is the first Olympics I remember but my biggest memory from the games was 84 Grand Piano’s for want ever reason….

A picture that I took and that is now hanging in my house.

(long ago, but my friend and I saw the pole vault finals and another T&F event. We went to some outdoor party one night, and ran into Steve Lundquist (2x Gold medal breaststroker with the widest shoulders I’ve ever seen))

Just got registered, took a few minutes, so they must have gotten bugs out or the mad rush at the beginning subsided. I look forward to hopefully getting some tickets, saw on the news that the $28 dollar tickets will be in most sports. Of course some will have very few, but they said a million of the tickers will be that price. Just got to get lucky in the drawings I guess, and be ready to go!!

And for any of you coming and looking for accommodations, I will be renting out rooms at my place in LA county, up in the high desert with beautiful views and a peaceful vibe. Many of you have been here in the past for different camps, perhaps if folks have questions on experience’s here you can help them out..

My little sister literally ran into OJ Simpson in the Coliseum.

Save me a room!

So I got my no bueno email from the ticket gods, did anyone out there get a time slot to buy? If so, did you get anything, anything good? I have seen on other socials that many did get the go ahead, but no good sports were left, and the prices we astronomical for even the weak sports..Was told that I go to a 2nd drawing later in the year, but hearing some of the prices perhaps I was actually lucky!

I asked about swimming as it is being held in a football stadium, and there should be 30k+ seats at least each day. Heard nosebleed seats were 800 bucks! I guess it is just all supply and demand, but sucks that locals really will be shut out of a home games. You can do 3 days at Coachella for the price of one shitty swim seat..

So who got in?

I missed out, but my wife got a locals slot. Unfortunately, it was Sunday so it had already been open for 3 or 4 days and had been picked pretty clean. We are still in her window, but doubt we will buy at these prices. Here is swimming as of right now:

Will go back into the pool and see if we get better luck on a later draw. I don’t even need to go to a popular event, but Handball prelims are over $200. Boxing medal round would be great, but $396. Beach Volleyball at $598. Women’s basketball would be fun, but prelims are around $250 for so-so seats and you have no idea if you get USA-Spain or Angola-Poland. Was in Atlanta 96 for a few days and was able to go up to events before the start and get in very cheap from what I can remember (was barely out of college so I know I wasn’t able to afford $500 tickets even translated back to 90s dollars). But guessing the internetification of ticket resales will make that impossible as well. Hopefully find a few ways to get into something along the way just to experience the Olympics again. Hope you get a great draw later in the process.

Sorry, meant to comment as well that those swimming prices were for very good seats - Category A and B. Nosebleeds were $50 to $300, but there weren’t any left after the first two time slots of the drop. So the luck isn’t in being selected for the drop, but it appears you need to be very early in any drop you are selected for.

This is pretty wild. I was just in Long Beach visiting friends and they offered their couch if I wanted to come in to watch the games. But at these prices there may not really be a point. Although I really want to see some velodrome racing so we’ll see what resell ends up being.

Thanks for that great update, and I also noticed all those swimming tickets were only for prelims too. I wonder if all the finals have been sold out, or they are holding them back for now, getting rid of the least desirable tickets first. Almost 1200 bucks for prelims, no thanks!!! I wonder how track and field is going, think those are the most sought after..

I didn’t see any swimming medal round when I logged in so not sure if there ever were any available for the locals sale. Here is Track - they do have some medal rounds posted:

This is the level for each of those prices:

Those are interesting, and that last one looks like a fun day, 5k mens final with the women’s 4x100 final too. But almost 1200 bucks for the nose bleed seats in the orange, it’s just crazy. I guess it has to be one of those things where regular people just call this their vacation for the next 5 years. I was thinking I would buy my 12 tickets(if selected) and get out for under $4k. Not a chance, more like a 15k trip, and that is with me living close enough to drive to venues, can’t imagine what the housing is going to cost at that time..
