I finished my first artwork for the New Year

I’m aiming for a total of 50, but that’s also including 31/31 for Inktober

I have two books in ā€œDraftā€ status that have manuscripts completed, for which I’ve ā€œbeen meaning toā€ do illustrations and print off (the first needs 18 illos, the other needs 12)

used the unhealthy coping skill yesterday.

I know some things like your medical stuff are not completely in your control but try to look at what you’re coping with instead of how.

Work on that 3 ft box mentality. Focus on the things you can do and try to let go of things that are out of your control.

That’s all I got. Wishing you all a good 2026.

I started the year feeling extremely burnt out. Nov/Dec 2025 were extremely busy, right up until Xmas day, and I promptly got the flu 3 days in to my 9 day holiday, likely from being over worked.

My goals for ā€˜26 are a mixed bag. Some longer term projects, some scaling back.

For the first time since my teen years, I have zero fitness related goals. I just want to continue my exercise regime, which is currently just 2x/week masters swimming and 2x/week CrossFit. I herniated a disc in my back in the summer which is still causing me some grief, so, I just want to move consistently without pushing too hard that I re-aggravate my back.

I would like to get back in the habit of reading a physical book before bed.

I want to seriously explore testing for an ADHD diagnosis and possible medication. I feel like I have always managed my fairly intense anxiety and distractfulness with hard work and exercise. I feel like this frequently leads to these repeated crash and burn cycles in my life, and now with two young kids, that’s just not sustainable and I need to find a better path forward. Maybe that’s therapy, medication, meditation, some combination of the above, I’m not 100% sure yet.

This goal kind of ties in to my last but I feel like I need a career change. I’ve been self employed nearly my entire adult life, and I would like to find something with a better work life balance so I can be more present with my kids. This is pretty scary for me because I feel like I’ve never had a ā€œreal jobā€ :joy:. Housing regulations are also changing and causing a lot of headwinds in my industry, so I feel like it might be a good time to pivot.

So, yeah, no grand fitness challenges, no 100 books in 100 weeks challenge, if anything my goals this year are less about pushing myself to new heights and more about simplification and recalibration.

can you say more about the 3 ft box mentality?

wishing you a good 2026 too, @spudone !

I finally got back on track last week with eating/weight loss goals. Hopefully I can keep this rolling now that the holidays are over…

It’s really about narrowing your focus and giving yourself manageable tasks you can accomplish. This way you don’t feel overwhelmed or overloaded with stress from external things.

To use a tri analogy, I was having a terrible day at my last race (injured). I started thinking ahead about cutoffs, worrying my back might get worse, feeling negative, thinking about dropping out.

But I then focused on what I can do. Break this into small chunks. Get up the next hill. Get more calories. Manage effort. Don’t look too far ahead.

Do the best with the factors you can control and let the worry go.

I’m sorry about the herniated disk.

I encourage yo uto explore the ADHD diagnosis. Keep us updated!

I’m all about simplification and recalibration too.

Yay for 4 in a row!

Dad is up and down, but we had a good visit yesterday when I took him to an appt.

I’m being semi-productive today, catching up on a few chores. Need to exercise. I put it off so much. And I need to make a nice dinner tonight. I was lazy and we had frozen pizza last night. Lol

Did you exercise yesterday, @bt ?

5 days in a row!!! 13/15 month/year

Completed one today, and with one already in the bank, only 16 to go

I have a calendar on my fridge for work, with the weeks numbered 1-52. With 2 works done and it’s only Week 3, we’re on good pace to start

cool!

I walked yesterday. But the allergens blowing around kicked my butt. I’m going to go swim one day next week, but some pools also make me sneeze, so I’m hesitant.

Better than nothing. Prob will be on trainer later today or tomorrow.

I’m super anxious… I can cope! I need to in part to channel success your way!

Glad you got out for a walk.
