2025 Concerts

I just saw they hit #1 on the rock album chart (whatever that means these days). I don’t really get them but haven’t invested much time either, will have to check them out again.

Metallica finally plays Lave Stadium at Virginia Tech, where Enter Sandman has been played during the football team stadium entrance for years. Pretty cool experience for the fans there.

Drive By Truckers and Deer Tick

Social Distortion is one of the headliners on a musically themed cruise I’m on right now. The chops, the songs, the look…it’s all still there. He’s still working to get his voice back but no one who’s never seen them before would know the difference. Industrial grade musical performance.

I just added two to the 2025 list.

Heart in St. Augustine on June 24th and Descendents in Jacksonville on July 27th.

I’ve been trying to see Descendents since I was in high school. I’m 55 if we’re keeping that score.

Catching Tedeschi Trucks with Buddy Guy at the Beacon

Not a concert, but GlenGarry Glen Ross on Broadway was great. Bill Burr, Keiran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk, Michael Mckean.

We saw Living Colour last week in a smaller theater. Everyone in that band is an absolute killer on their instrument! There are bands that are AS good, but I don’t think there is one that’s BETTER! They really deserve a bigger audience than they have.

David Byrne, The Met, Philly, 10/17

Bucket list for D’Wife :white_check_mark: (I’ve seen Talking Heads a bunch of times, but never DB solo)

I’m not doing the presale but plan on going to one of the two nights here in ATL…I saw the ‘marching band’ DB show a few years back and it was about the most choreographed thing I’ve ever seen away from Broadway. Pretty inspired stuff, IIRC…

Well that was incredible. Top 3 all timer.

Caught Gaslight Anthem at a local club with a capacity of a couple of hundred tonight. I get a lot more from a show when I can stand a couple of rows deep.

Tuesday they will be opening for the Counting Crows for 15,000 at Pine Knob.

Edit to correct Tuesday’s venue. They are playing Freedom hill with half that capacity.

Not the worst viewing location on Saturday…

Did he sweat on you?

In much less exciting news, my wife touched Rick Springfield last night.

Coming up:

6-20 Star Wars: A New Hope with the Philadelphia Orchestra
7-9 Ghost
7-19 Weird Al

The venue matters

Too far away to literally get sweat on, the mic was probably 8’ from us, there was a walkway inside the fence. Kirk and Robert were sweating a lot more.

Suicidal, Pantera and Metallica still put on a good show.

You and I were apparently in the same spot at different shows.

Just added Fu Manchu in Philly, Sep 17.

Thinking about getting tix for bloc party silent alarm tour and viagra boys. Anyone seen viagra boys? I’ve seen bloc party a few times before.
