Whereas Valchek used his political savvy to rise through the ranks, Vacek is doing it on brute force. Nothing subtle about it.
I heard that Mads had told Vacek to go for it up the climb with a mind to ride away. That didnāt seem likely to happen (and ultimately it didnāt) but amazingly after detonating the climb he still performed a strongman leadout for Mads when Mads, also amazingly, made it back up. Both those guys are absolutely flying.
Nasty crash today, sucks for Hindley, Primoās going to miss him in the mountains.

I missed the crash but read up about it. Besides Jai and Juri Hollmann abandoning, how did the Paz and Paul Magnier fare? I saw it stated they were on the floor too.
Theyāre all up and riding. Weāll see how they feel after the stage. They both were looking sore (Paz in particular). If the race hadnāt been neutralized it didnāt look like Paz was getting back on the bike in any hurry so that might have been it for his GC bid.

So, no changes in GC or points; I guess just soft pedal into town, go for the stage (or not) and call it a day?
Was there a split in the peloton? I wasnāt paying attention and now I see that the pink jersey group is 3 minutes behind.

Thereās basically no GC (and no points) today. If you want to go for the win, go for it, but otherwise no penalty for sitting up and cruising home at whatever pace you want (also no time cut today).

Iāll have to check back in later to see all the ramifications. the little I watched - @likes_bikes - totally agree - endangering the athletes who have NO IDEA they need to be vigilant for a spectator in the middle of the road - requires consequences - how does that help oneās cause? it looked like he tried to go back into the race a 2nd time?!!

No points for the jersey classifications, but should still UCI points for the stage. Thatās part of why we saw the split in the field, still a lot to play for for teams like Picnic.
The grittiest season of that show, though not the saddest.
The one focusing on the education system perhaps makes for the toughest watch.
ETA. I got it all wrong. I though Valchek was the head stevedore in season 2, but instead heās the incompetent police lieutenant.

I donāt have a clue why they were attempting to STRETCH A BANNER across the road in front of a peloton, nor do I care. I have read the speculation of their motives, but come on. Endangering athletes is the most foolish way to advocate whatever point they were attempting to make. Iām generally anti-war and anti-violence, but a friend told me that the protestors got roughed up a bit by others in the crowd and I have no problem with that. Hereās hoping that charges get brought against them, not for any desire to protest, but for doing so in a way that endangers others around them. Iām so tired of people who get a front row ticket for free to amazing athletes and use their presence to instead cause danger. Taco got the damn ribbon wrapped around his neck and had to slam his brakes FFS.
