I was at the team presentation tonight, good times, though oddly enough no dance from Alison J.
Looking forward to the race tomorrow
also at team presentations - good access to the riders. nice to see big dogs like McNulty, Sheehan, Powless, Simmons making it here to support the race.
as the riders realized Skjelmose won the last edition after getting a pic with Mur(ray) dog - several thought it might help for this race.
Looks good, maybe I will see you around at the start or finish today
Keegan and Kate both took top stem at XC Marathon World Champs today. Incredible
Iâm stoked to see Kate doing so well this year.
@fredericknorton @trener1 seen if you can pick yourselves out of the finish line shot!!!
Mur dog got a pic with Jackson - but she got 2nd
and a pic with McNulty, hmmmnâŠ
I bet Powless wanted a pic after that wheel disaster (super bummer).
i have to think uno and Tudor having teammates means abramson for the win.
I dont think I can see myself but I was right there⊠it sure was closeâŠ
Iâm a little surprised that Uno X didnât try a flyer towards the end, it was a fun race though, I hope it comes back next year.
Also note, I bumped into the whole Total Energies team at the Oâs game tonight⊠that was cool.
I tried to express my awe to Turgis for his gravel stage win in that break of hitters last year at the Tour. Very sure my French is awful and pretty sure my English only partially came across but he was smiling as I fan-boy named most of the break!
That is cool, Seems like you had really good access, I really didnât get to chat with any of the riders but it was still cool.
Is this an EF- Oatly Stan post? This is an EF-Oatly Stan post.
I went to my âlocalâ race today, the Bucks County Classic. Because the amazing ladies of EF werenât done after yesterdayâs fun in Baltimore, they cruised up here to Doylestown, PA for the pro crit.
First, this is a SLEEPYass town (one of my athletes DMed me with âew what are you doing in my hometown today?â Ha). But they have a magical 1.4 mile downtown loop with 8 brutal turns and 100ft of elevation gain, making a perfect setting for a fun race. Add in some WET roads and we got ourselves a barn burner!
The women set out for 20 laps, roughly 50km. EF was the marquee team while several local pro teams also fielded some exceptional talent. A lot of BMX riders took on the challenge of this race, and many of them survived the cutdowns to make the final 25-deep peloton that managed to stay upright and within time cuts to battle it out with five EF riders.
Everyone wondered how our favorite dance leader, Alison Jackson, could possibly do todayâs race after yesterdayâs photo finish after 72 miles of the Baltimore course. Because sheâs Ali Freakin Jackson, thatâs how. And she and the squad put on a clinic- going for brass ring laps and melting back into the safety zone front of the ride until the final 4 laps where they all positioned at the front. And then, with the bell lap it was anyoneâs guess.
Well it would have been had EF not been there! Three different teams made the podium, which was a nice cap to an exciting 20 laps of crit racing.
Post-race, I managed to do a repeat of my bucket-list errand in Zurich from last September, and handed Ali J some local pastries (bummer to the extreme that my favorite bakery, Stocks, is closed on Sundays now!). We spent about 5 minutes chatting while a line formed with fangirls and media. Not only did she come up to me with âyour friend told me youâd be here today!â (from yesterdayâs Bmore race), but she remembered the pouring rain handoff at the finish in Zurich from last year. What a baller woman and total class act.
Thanks, Doylestown, for continuing your tradition of being exciting for one day a year
Thatâs why Alecia Moore left ⊠and changed her name to â P!NK !!!
A guy I used to ride with taught her in HS. Probably a ton of stories like that.
I was going for the P!NK x EF-Oatly/Action Jackson connection, but yeah, Iâm sure
If P!NK was anything like weâve been led to believe #hellraiser then Iâm sure âtaughtâ is being generous
In my own case, going to shows in Philly, Trenton, Passaic, or Asbury on school nights, then showing up sometime in the middle of 1st or 2nd Period, still smelling of beer & cigarettes, âteachingâ was a one-way street
As I told DâKid, not long ago, it wasnât that I was still drunk, or too hungover to pay attention ⊠I just couldnât fucking hear
Another Baltimore anecdote
Yesterday morning we drove out to the Trek store in Elicott City, it turned out to be super cool, I had really nice chats (beyond like just hello etcâŠ) with Mattias Skjelmose, Quinn Simmons and Sam Ooman, they all seemd really nice and down to earth, I complimented Skjelmose on being only one of 2 people to beat Pogi this year, he seemed to like that.
Simmons told me some more details of his engagement on live TV.
Also got to try Mads salmon based recovery drink, my son loved meeting and chatting with the guys. but the cherry on top was that they had the Vuelta live on the TV, aside from the riders all of the Trek team staff was also there and they were all glued to the TV and erupted in a huge scream when Mads won, I canât say that is an experience I will have very often if ever again. and strangely enough, in the last 5k they seemed pretty nervous and not sure if Mads would win.
@trener1 - awesome that you got to meet and greet. as a fanboy myself this is what i like best. Did (peanut butter n) skjelly look ok after the saturday crash?
Great work on the Amstel story - I botched that with complimenting Sjkelly on the ânorwegianâ national jersey 2 years ago (when he won here) before I figured out I misspoke and didnât say Danish - ugggh. no way to fan-boy!
that mads win was awesome - 5 guys in break working to bring back the front 2 and Mads covering EVERYTHING in last 15 minutes for the win.
I picked Almeida over Jonas before the start 2 weeks ago - I think he just might chip away enough to pull this offâŠ
