2025 70.3 Boise?

Maps are posted. Sadly, the swim is in the reservoir like in the past.

To say that Boise is not into triathlon is a bold statement, especially considering myself and 5 other Boise pros will be racing. There are plenty of triathletes in the area and a lot of excitement. There are also tons of things to do in Boise…everything Salem has and more…and plenty of non sh*ty hotels like in Salem.

Is this goin to be an afternoon start?

They just updated the swim course:

Here are the primary reasons for the change:

  • Sunrise direction: By starting at Turner Gulch, we’ll avoid having athletes sight directly into the morning sun, which can create significant visibility issues.
  • Wind conditions: Prevailing winds tend to create a headwind in the original direction. By reversing the course, athletes are more likely to encounter crosswinds instead, which are less disruptive during the swim.
  • Protected start: Turner Gulch offers a more sheltered entry point, with calmer waters for the first 100 yards, ideal for a smoother and safer start.

I’m not familiar with this reservoir or the Boise area in general, so I’m curious if those of you who have done this race in the past have any thoughts on this. Does it get super windy?

I have not done this course but I ride up the hill there a lot in the summertime and the winds do tend to come down the mountain in the morning. Conditions can be a bit rough. Morning is when the windsurfers tend to be there.
