NFL data shows that teams coming off a bye-week used to have an advantage worth 2.2 points. After the new CBA that mandated players have off days, that advantage has disappeared. Turns it out the advantage was due using the bye week for more practice and preparation, which they can’t do now. So, bet against a bye-week team?

I think this might be best Thursday game of the year so far.
That was a terrible 4th and 1 play-call to go the other way.

Lions looked about as good as any team I’ve seen this year.
I saw the play on highlights this morning. Looks like they were on the 20 yard line but I missed the context. Was this a play to keep possession, run down the clock and kick the winning FG? Otherwise the obvious safe play is to kick it on 4th and hope the defense holds, which often ends poorly.
Edit: just read the article, that appears to be the case. I like the call.
