Hard to understand Sky’s logic unless it was Froome wanting to open up for tomorrow. Bodnar and Sagan were only going to go hard enough to get to the line, not caring about a bigger time gap. And it’s not only Froome burning energy but also GT, one of his key guys in mountains. However, once again, Quintana/Movistar and BMC were snoozing instead of being attentive. They’re lucky that didn’t turn into a minute.
Exciting racing but time will tell if it was smart.
