Everyone has to start somewhere. Hanging Shimano 105 components on a BMC Timemachine TM02 is a great bike to start your career racing stopwatches. The bike is fast, the components reliable, and when you feel like you’re outgrowing it, you can upgrade components to turn this entry-level bike into one that just about everyone will lust after. Dual Transmission Integration means you can upgrade to electronic shifting at a later date. The heart of this bike is the TM02 frame. It comes out of the very same mold that the TM01 comes from. Trickle-down tech at it’s best. You get all the benefits of BMC working out shapes for their pro riders in a more economical package. So it is just as aero as the pro bike, it has the same geometry, it’s just fabricated in lower modulus carbon-fiber. It even has the hidden under the bottom bracket brake with its internal cable routing. Necessarily following a bike coming out of the same mold is that the frame employs the same subA aerodynamic profiling and the same Position 2 Perform (P2P) aero seat post.
Furthering the cost savings is the conventional fork and stem. Here, you get a build that is much easier to work on and even easier to customize—any 1 1/8" steerer tube clamp stem will fit here. Between the conventional stem and 21-21 seat post, every body, no matter how stiff or flexible, should be able to fit comfortably on the TM02.
The rest of the build is Shimano’s 105 group, a great parts kit that is perfect for the beginning racer or the savvy racer who wants to save a little cash on a rig that doesn’t necessarily need to be super light to be competitive. Fizik’s Ardea Tri saddle and Profile’s T2 wing bars and s-bend extensions finish out the package.
The BMC Timemachine TM02 with Shimano 105 is the most economical way to get a BMC aero bike out to races.
