2012 World AG championships?

I could have sworn I heard that this race was to be in London, with the 2011 Nats in Burlington, VT as the US qualifier, but I can no longer verify that.

Am I delusional, or did something change?

This is what I have heard, and what I am assuming. Trying to save my pennies, and health, and might consider trying to go. I would be 55 for a 2012 race. :o)

.

Burlington is confirmed as the qualifier per
http://www.usatriathlon.org/…-championships/30471

but dunno about London… can’t find anything on 2012 ITU series and don’t remember hearing anything.

This random post

has a press release which looks just like the USAT announcement, but
“The USA Triathlon Age Group and Sprint National Championships feature the top amateur athletes in the U.S. competing for national titles in their age groups as well as spots on Team USA to compete in the 2012 ITU World Championships in London.”

It looks like the same date on the press release as the USAT link, but “London” is changed to “TBA” in the USAT link.
My guess is it was London but something happened…

It’s that “TBA” that threw me. I may be losing my mind, but this isn’t evidence of it. Thanks.

I’m still on the mailing list of my old coach, he’s the perennial coach of Canada’s AG Oly distance team, and yes he confirmed London is the place for 2012, but I can’t find much on-line.

I hear from one of his athletes (so take it with a grain of salt) that it will be on the 2012 Olympic course in the month before the Olympics. As cool as that would be, I find it odd because the big attraction to AG Worlds is taking part in the same event (different day) as the big name ITU athletes are gunning for the Worlds too, but because it will be so close to the Olympics, the top tier athletes will be resting to peak for the Olympics – the issue ITU probably has with every Olympic year. Still, how cool will that be to race on the Olympic course so close to the Olympics? My wife is already planning our trip!

London beats Budapest and Beijing hands down, for me. I mean, they speak English and all there. Or at least a dialect of English.
