I’ve been told that for 2010, Cannondale will be raising their prices sighting increase in material costs/factors of production.
This seems to be a little strange, given that most manufacturers have decided to move production of carbon frames oversees in order to reduce costs. So my questions are:
1). Are material costs increasing as a result of the market conditions?
2). Is this a trend amongst manufacturers for 2010 (i.e. raising prices)?
3). Are manufacturers trying to make up losses as a result of the econmomy?
4). Is this just B.S. from the LBS who wants to clear out 2009 stuff?
I was just speaking with my friend who owns a tri store. In a passing conversation he said that prices were going up again, by $200 or so dollars. We didn’t get into why…and I’m not sure if that was for all manufacturers, but I wasn’t surprised and didn’t doubt its validity.

Isnt that just basically the cost of doing business. I mean I would be more shocked if bike prices didnt go up.
I know both the Cannondale Slice, and the Felt Carbon B16’ish (not sure of the exact 2010 designation) bikes will be offered at the $2000 priced point for 2010, so not everything is going up!
I believe the Slice is going to be offered in two (2) frame choices: as a “Hi-Mod” frame and “Intermediate” frame. So, I suspect the $2,000 will get you the intermediate carbon frame with entry level group.
Cannondale doesn’t have their full 2010 site up, yet, however the following link should allow you to take a quick look at the 2010 Slice and Synapse:
Cannondale had to move manufacturing to match the compitition. Even though it is saving them money, the move had to be that they were losing money. Every year prices increase just due to inflation. I do not think the prices will jump like last year, that was due to mostly componants. Though the top end groupo’s are pretty spendy.
Rumor has it Felts 2010 prices are going down.
I heard the same thing. I think they have great versatility because their line is so deep. It’s nice when you can trade off individual components to keep prices moderate or eliminate a model alltogether. My guess is that they’ll scoop up some good market share this year.
I know for a fact Specialized is lowering their prices (at least on road bikes). In fact I’m waiting for a 2010 Roubaix Pro to come in for a test ride.

and yes, in general, we’ve dropped our prices substantially. Some models like the aforementioned B16 $200 or more. We’ve added more models in the “middle” price points as well with an all new B14, and the best news of course is that these new 2010 models are in stock and shipping to dealers.
What’s going to be the difference between the B14 and B16 and are there any changes to the spec of the B16 compared to this years? Are they the same frame? Was just thinking about a B16 from this year and upgrading components. I like this years black/red scheme…curious what the '10 B14 and B16 look like.

Cool.
Just make sure not to send anything too complicated to my LBS, they don’t know how to put your bikes together.
P.S. Will the Felt “Bayonet II” fork fit my '09 B2R? I’m sure I won’t be the last person to ask…

I can’t set the clock on my VCR and I can’t record shows on my DVR. I can barely drive a manual transmission. I’ve burned Mac & Cheese, and my son can assemble his Lego sets in half the time it takes me to do it. …but installing our Bayonet forks is quite simple for me. All of the Bayonet equipped models for 2010 will use the Bayonet2 fork, and we’ll have the fork finally available for aftermarket sale as well under our premium DEVOX brand. Regards, -SD
Unbelievable 2010 line. Best paint schemes yet. Are those Zipp 303s on the AR2?
Thank you, all the guys (and girl) responsible for the 2010 line really outdid themselves.
The AR2 uses a Zipp rim that previously was their 303 clincer shape, it does not have dimples, but it does retain the UD finish instead of the twill weave like the Flashpoints. There are a few other small touches we’ve put on them as well. I anticipate them coming in slightly lighter than the SRAM S40s.
