Just looking for a bit of clarity - is the 20cm height limit above the reference point only? eg is a bottle below the armrest reference point excluded from the 20cm?
My dual bta mount is quite chunky, and whilst the upper bottle is much lower than 20cm above the reference point, the aero bottle I use on the lower mount protrudes a couple of cm beyond 20cm if measured from the top of the upper bottle.
Anything attached to the rotating bit can’t extend more than 200mm above the ref point but can extend lower, but not lower than 5mm above the front tyre.
I appreciate that’s not quite what the rules say. But . . .
"When measured from the lowest edge of the arm support (if none exists, the lowest edge of the athlete’s elbow in the rider’s intended aero position), all attached objects on the handlebars or the clip-ons (bottles, holders, containers, etc.) must be within an area with the following dimensions: o a maximum of 250 mm in the direction of the saddle and o a maximum of 200 mm in height and o no further than the foremost point of the handlebars or clip-ons, and o a maximum of 5 mm from the highest point of the front wheel."
Yes, or at least it was enforced as a rule at the 70.3 wc last Fall
There quite a few.Ku riders that had to take of their top tube storage and/or bottle.
