I was out there taking photos for my club, and since there was a LOT of time between friends/members, and most of you thought I was the pro and yelled at me to take your photo, i snapped hundreds of photos of you all.
Go to Dlee.zenfolio.com
there are 2 folders. 1 for people racing in club sponsored jerseys (Running Away, Vision Quest, Wellfit, Get A Grip) and one for everyone else.
For all athlete photos, I uploaded the full res 12 megapixel jpg (processed from a raw original). If you find a photo you like and need it tweaked, PM me and I’ll see what i can do.
I am providing these for free, but please do NOT use them for any commercial purposes. IF you need to do so, PM me.
No pre-race jitters for this guy.

For the hottie thread:

Nice pics! And FWIW, I believe the ill-fitting aero-helmet = Kona Qualifier…
Haha, maybe there’s something to wearing your helmet wrong.
I definitely noticed the girl in all white on the bike. Mostly noticed the ironic choice of color as she had… peed herself. I suppose if you’re a pro…
Saw the guy with the prosthetic leg too. What. A. Tank.
I saw the helmet on the bike course. I was wondering, “What the heck? That has to be some kind of joke”.

Looks like you are right. Poorly fit helmet didn’t stop her from going sub 11 and grabbing a Kona spot. She’s Speedy!
However, she did have the slowest bike split of the kona qualifiers in her AG. Just sayin
Dan,
Those are some great photos. I just got an SLR recently and I’m trying to learn how to use it properly. What kind of setup where you running?
Right now I’ve got a stock 55-200 lens, but I’m guessing your using a 300mm?

55-200 might be a little slow for sports. But it will certainly do the job.
My setup for these shots:
- Nikon D700
- Sigma 70-200 2.8
- Monopod (there’s no way i can hand hold that lens all day).
- MB-D10 battery grip.
The ‘ill fitted’ aero helmet lady is indeed Kona bound and she does know how to wear a helmet properly. She tipped it up because the back bracket got stuck in too tight a possition and caused her headaches. Instead of stopping to fix it she just pushed it back and hammered the crap out of the bike course. Now about those stupid looking recovery socks that people wear when racing…
Oh, I just heard that ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ is coming out with a new series all about propper triathlon attire, helmets and all. They will come to your house and do a triathlon make-over complete with helmets, stretchy pants, hats and everything!
Ahhh…that makes sense I guess. We were thinking that she was getting too hot and wanted a little more ventilation. Now I don’t have to ask her next time I see her! And yes, she had a great race. Her coach must be thrilled.
