Heyo - looking to pick up my first real tri bike in quite a while - I have the chance to get a good deal on a new Jamis Xenith T1 - anyone have any input/experience/suggestions about this ride? I haven’t been a big jamis fan in the past, but it looks pretty sweet - I’d appreciate any input. It looks like a pretty nice setup, aside from the wheels, which I’m fine with. Here’s a link to Jamis’ site - http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/bikes/08_bikes/08xenitht1.html .
Rock on
Tim
The frameset looks awesome and is very aero. Looking to get one myself in the future.
P.S.
What’s the good deal?
We’ll have to see - I’ve been oggling the bike for a while, and I’m hoping to pick one up. Any other opinions, anyone?
Hi,
I have one, I waited since Interbike time. That said, they never began to arrive until 30 days ago. for anyone.
The Cycling world has changed (PS: I have 25 years of industry experience, to counter my 28 years of triathlon experience), All of a sudden you can get good things from unlikely places. In some cases you have to get the best from the best, 'cuz it does not exist elsewhere under an alternate label. Cervelo is at the top of this pantheon.
You can also get close approximations from the original makers or at least those who have posession of the mold.
Kuota Kalibur is available in 85-95% exactation thru resellers of Gigantex/Advantex: Karbona, Stevenson, Velo Vie, Planet X, etc.
The other thing that has happened is that some brilliant bike designers (and please step forward and identify yourself) go to races, lurk on forums, talk to others and make lists:
Like Jamis must have: here, make the perfect modern tri-bike:
and unlike several others: DO NOT F–K IT UP WITH DUMB THINGS:
like big as a beer can headtubes (Scott, Kouta)
Fat as my forearm top tubes (Scott, Kuota, Gigantex clones, Isaac)
Stupid tall head tubes: Scott, Specialized, Kuota Kalibur/K-Factor
Fear of steepness and an accompanyingly right front center dimension (List of Wusses is too long!)
Internal cable schemes that ruin the experience and make me hate you
(because, as the #1 race tuner in the North Western USA, I hate shitty cable schemes): Kestrel, QRoo, GURU
So evidently the guys and gals at Jamis went and did it right and avoided most of the wrong. I will give them next year to right the only glaring wrong…to serve the world below 5 ft 6 they do need 2 sizes of 650c wheeled XS and 2XS…I will be talking to them on that.
I will have my Medium Large Next week, I will keep you posted, in the mean time, I am searching for a friends house for photos.
'cuz people will pick on my carpet (it does not match the drapes, nor the hard wood floors:)
Saw one today @ my LBS. Absolutely beautiful frame.
edit: it was the T2…
I also like the looks of the bike and am in the market for something new.
SO, how easy is it to replace the rear brake pads ?
And has it been tested against the P3C or the Leader frames ?
Hi,
The pads are easy if you have reasonable skills…can you change a tire, can you replace standard cassette style brake blocks?
You pass.
“Leader”…are you Fucking Joking?
I just Shite Myself…That Is Priceless!
"P3C…uh not to burst your bubble there Skippy, BUT…the bike is not the weak link if you are comparing these 2 bikes
(or The 5 or 6 others that make my own list of “Riteous Rides”)
YOU ARE.
Next?
I should have a complete setup image and an initial ride report later this coming week.

Actually, the drag numbers on a Leader 735TT are not too bad.
Do you have to remove the crank to get to the rear drive side pad ?
Given the fact that I am 99.9% front brake when ever I ride a road or Mountain bike,
it never even crosses the mind, That the rear pads MAY be hard to access on the crankset side.
I don’t even rear brake enough to justify carbon/carbon pads even when I am throwing on the Zipp 1080 carbons or Sub9
your results may vary
as may your speed and ability
At a recent price under $3300,
It seems to be filling a good void between the $2500 P2C and the $4800 P3C
Nice
And the Full Pimp T2 at under 7 is a peer to the other rockets in THAT rarified air
