2008 Cervelo

Any word on what’s cooking at the Vroomen-White household???

Ha, ha! I just suckered our rep into accidently admitting to the existence of a P4. When I called him on it, he laughed but was definitly chagrined to realize he may have let the cat out of the bag. He wouldn’t say anything more about it. Anyone else hear of it?

Strange that nobody would have told me! There is a reason why none of the new bikes on the market are as aero yet as the P3C, it’s simply very hard to do. We are facing the same problem. Of course there are ideas and concepts for a P4C, that’s rather logical if you have a P2C and a P3C, and we started thinking about that the day we finished the P3C. But unfortunately nothing concrete yet.

God I hope not. I’ve only just got my P3c !!! I’ll be gutted if thats about to be superceded.

On a more interesting note, it will be interesting to see who pops onto the market with a non UCI compliant mass manufactured design first and see what that does to the industry. Things could get exciting…

Mark my words, add an “SL” to the end of P2C and P3C and you have the next models from Cervelo - I wont make any predictions as to when, but given Cervelo’s model history the evolution seems imminent.

My Soloist Carbon SL is in the basement waiting to be built. Gerard i am sure you know this, but that frame is nothing short of breathtaking. Thank you for building such a masterpiece.

I don’t see why shaving 200g from the P3c is really going to help ? Maybe they will but to be honest bearing in mind how ‘old’ the P3c is i’m sure they would have done it by now if they were going to (bearing in mind it’s older than both the R3 and SLC).

Oh come on then you can turn the p3c into a training bike how cool would that be

.

I know, I had this thought the other day…

Good im glad im not the only one who had that idea :).

I got my soloist team build up and my dad is like does everyone have three bikes and i told him i haven’t built my cross or track bike yet… He goes you’re never gonna buy a house are you haha.

But isn’t the Kestrel Airfoil a non-UCI frame?? Why don’t people get excited by that?
Is there really a market for a Lotus superbike?
SteveMc

Because the airfoil isn’t as fast as some of the UCI legal bikes.

I think a reasonably priced lotus bike would have a market. But im not gonna jump out and spend 5-6k on a frameset.

Grant

Do we really know that the airfoil isn’t as fast as some of the UCI legal bikes? This would be interesting but I thought it was in the ballpark of a P3C

I’m not convinced that a 2000$-3000$ Lotus frame would have a great market unless it was notably faster, but how are we (i.e. the bike buying punter) ever going to find that out?? So yes it might sell on looks and questionably aerodynamics but not sufficiently to keep a company afloat (i.e. they’ll need other products to keep them in business)

SteveMc

Would be nice if they could do the carbon soloist with the paint job from the SL. I don’t fancy the red but don;t want to pay $1100 extra just forr the paint .

First of all, I am SURE Cervelo would announce a new bike here as opposed to, I don’t know, Interbike.

Second, Any time I see people talking about a fater bike I simply repeat what Lance Armstong said in 2005 “Any good bike is going to be fast, make sure the rider is too.”

We can spend $10-15,000 on bikes and gear, but that isn’t going to make a diddly pooh of difference if the rider isn’t in top form. Rather than dicussing what Cervelo is or isn’t going to release, go out and train.

Bob

Have you tried dimples to create a P3CD?

not sure we know anything absolutely, but i recall reading that the airfoil is quite slippery with a rear disc installed.

but with a spoked or deep wheel, it does quite a bit worse than a lot of other tt bikes.

I missed a really good PB last year in a TT by one measily second. If that happens again i’ll bring this back up !

I think a reasonably priced lotus bike would have a market. But im not gonna jump out and spend 5-6k on a frameset again.

Fixed your typo.

“I don’t see why shaving 200g from the P3c is really going to help?”

I’m sure everyone would agree with you (including Cervelo.) However, the exact same could be said for the original P3, the P2, and more recently the R3 and the Soloist Carbon. Why would you build an R3-SL when you can already build a regular R3 under the UCI weight limit?? Because not only is it sweet, but people will BUY it!! I’d bet that the best market for a P3C-SL would be the people who have a P3C and would sell it to upgrade.

Just dont take it off any sweet jumps.

Or, following Gerard’s history he is pulling a fast one and the new bike is coming out very soon, but will be called the Cervelo PC4.
