2008 Cervelo Paint Schemes

…the 2008 P3C looks terrible (based on the model on display at Eurobike). Any thoughts? I’m so dissapointed.

I saw it just before dinner and couldn’t bring myself to eat anything…

link…?

Honestly, I kind of like it… I don’t think it’ll appeal to a ton of people and personally i think the color combo needs a tweak, possibly a different sort of black or a different transition from the silver seat tube cutout into the black down tube. Also, think it would really come together a bit better if they continued the red in the front end of the bike sweeping down onto the fork…
Under a rider it’s going to look pretty fast though.

The worst part is that they appear to have painted over the beautiful natural carbon finish of the frame with black paint. Completely retarted…and I had a feeling they would make this fatal mistake in 2008. I’ve never understood why you would paint black over natural carbon and while it makes sense that cervelo wouldn’t create a natural carbon finish on the soloist SLC-SL (to save weight)…to cover up the natural carbon finish on the P3C with black paint…it just isn’t right. Any word on the new color scheme of the regular soloist carbon?

custom painting is the new black
.

Maybe its just the team issued CSC version:

.

Does this mean CSC is going to be on clinchers?

Black and red = Ok , black and silver = ok, silver and red = ok, All black = Yes, all silver = yes, all red = YES -

Black silver and red - hmmm no i don’t think so.

I was thinking of upgrading to a P3C over the winter, so will have to see if I can find a 2007 one.

It is interesting that top of the range models Bayonne, SCSL, R3SL, always seem to look the most desirable - is because they give these the best paint jobs or is it just because they are more expensive and elusive making you covert them more?

This makes me wonder if a more stealthily painted an SL P3C maybe soon to be released?

I wonder if any pictures of the rest of the lineup exist. Team Soloist, Soloist, P2SL pictures would be nice.

i am happy that cervelo spends more time in perfectioning aerodynamics than perfectioning colors. it is still a beautiful bike.

no one will go more fast or more slow just because a different color.

good point… but when you have the same frame for four years all they need to focus on is graphics and color scheme.

I thought CSC decided to pull their sponsorship? In that case putting CSC on the frame would appear a mistake. Or was CSC only considering pulling the sponsorhip, but didn’t go through with it?

Looks like the engineers spent more time on the graphics of the frame for 2008

After seeing this color scheme, CSC will prolly pull out… I too agree that there is one too many colors. The paint style is also the same for the P2C. What killed it for the P2C was the color of the seatpost nut. See link below…

No where else is there blue except for that location. They must have had some spares from '06 and decidede to throw it in. If they had use a black nut, then, it would have matched.

I did see a great looking P3C bike over the weekend, It was black and gold with matching zipp wheels - looked so sweet. I guess it was a custom paint job.

These new colors look terrible, but that’s just my opinion.

You know, the P3C is barely two years old. It may look longer because it wins all the time and sells so well it can be seen often, but that’s really all it is. The first intro was at races in May 2005. As for the colors, I am not worried. Thousands of people saw it at the show, not a single person commented they didn’t like it. As usual the photo doesn’t do it justice.

It’s a safety issue. The black P3C clamp has a different angle and should therefore not be used on the P2C, as it would damage the seatpost. Making both the P3C and the P2C clamp the same color would be a disaster waiting to happen.

Probably cost saving by omitting a comsetic top weave.
