well, thats cool, I thought it might fill up quick. All I read was 2100 guaranteed slots. I guess the NYC triathlon is just a little more popular because I tried to register for that and a couple days after the registration start date, it said that registration was closed.

The difference here is that there’s a triathlon virtually every weekend in SoCal. Plus the LA Tri is pretty expensive and not simple logistically with two transitions and a crosstown ride from finish line back to where you park for the swim.

So I take it the NYC Tri sells out very fast? The resgistration closed in about 4 days. The price was just as expensive if not more than the LA Tri. Now if you want a ticket for the NYC you need to shell out 500 bones.

Here’s the problem that week here in CA. On the same day you have Bill Leaches popular Pacific Coast Triathlon in Newport beach, and up in Nor Cal. you have Terry Davis and his race in Pacific Grove. Then you pile on the biggest race of them all the next weekend (I think about 3000 or so), the Malibu triathlon, and there just isn’t enough triathletes to go around and fill up any of these races. Good for sighning up late, but a drag on the race directors and their bottom lines…
