I got the group - waited until I could get the 53/49 chain rings.
Brakes, super cool. I can feel in my hand that the 2007 is lighter than the 2006 Record Caliper - but not as light as the Zero Gravity by any means. I am sure the Record will out live the ZG’s as there is no metal to metal interface as such on the ZG. I think the Record is better looking too.
Cranks…well…the cranks. Campy sold out and got the external BB. I really think the center bolt is better than Shimano’s system and would hope that people READ THE DIRECTIONS and buy a torque wrench to install them. I am sick with the fact that the Campy BB tool is not still the Campy cassette tool. That was a nice feature prior. The bearing tension system in the BB is genius (so simple I would have never thought of it) and all come pre lubed. I did notice that the “EPS” label is not on the new chain rings, last year the “EPS” coating was the ONLY thing the Record crank had over the Chorus (I think it was spray Pam to make it slicker). This year, I am betting the only thing is the alloy (TORX!!!) chain ring bolts and the label.
TORX!!! WTF!!! TORX??? In the past all I needed was a 5mm, 6mm, 2.5mm and I could strip a bike. Now I need a damn T25 for my brakes. That is bullshit (Only Record has Torx from what I understand).
Shifters, Der…um…is there a change here? I am thinking no (actually this years new items were the cranks, brakes and new supposed less force front Der - and I imagine the benifits of that are moot with out an Ergo lever).
When my new Kalibur arrives…the porn photos will flow.
