Slowman, do you have plans for any virtual Epiccamps this spring/summer/fall. If so, any idea of when so that folks can plan them into their yearly program ?
Rule number 1: No scheduling virtual camps when Francois’ university is on Spring Break
Recommendation 1: Ideally 7 to 5 weeks out from major Ironman events like LP, Ironman Canada/Wisconsin, Florida
Recommendation 2: A spring camp in May would be nice. This is when the weather is nice all around the continent for some serious bike miles
if you come in last you get all the fame, coverage on national tv and the cute girls at the finish line
to get that too you have to go at least Top3 (but even Top3 doesn’t guaranty you more than 10 seconds of coverage - e.g. Gordo at the IMC03 coverage) and I am quite certain that I won’t go Top3 in any triathlon within the next 5to10 years.
And after I am such a handsome single (lol) a great opportunity to get the girls. My mom would be some proud.
And best of all, you don’t have to agonoize yourself every day in training. And to me the agony starts as soon as I look at my bike
Just kidding. Did I tell you that I have already more than 500km of running since january 1st? Sometimes I’m not so lazy afterall
And, last but not least, I didn’t know anything about your bike training on saturday. I would have set the pace for you - until we hit the first light or stop sign :-))
I have two weeks of epic scheduled. It’s my vacation days and I can’t change that.
April 25-29
July 2-10
First one is to get ready for season start in May with the first tri in June. The second one is to get ready for A race halfs in Aug-Sept. I am using these weeks because of a conversation I had with my boss earlier this year.
Boss: Jim I have good news and bad news
Jim: What’s the good news?
Boss: you get three weeks paid vaction this year instead of one
Jim: Alright!, uh what’s the bad news?
Boss: these are the three weeks, (hands me acalendar with the weeks filled out)
So I will be posting my soloepic camps unless someone runs one concurrent with mine.
how did the Keski go? I know some friends had a pretty solid race. David Currie in 16th I think. Did you hear about the guy who passed away during the Classic race Sat? Horrible…46 years old. Super fit guy, massive heart attach I guess? I have raced againest him numerous times. Rest in peace Robert.
Kurt, the Keski went OK. I was 59th in 2:42. Should have used anti static graphite with my start Green. I used start green with start flouro hardener…big mistake. The only place this worked was at the lower elevations (15% of the course). Once we climbed up, it was minus 23 snow temp and dry snow and my skis were going knowhere. In any event, fitness was good…I was pulling people in on uphills and got dropped on flats and downhills. We have all had those type of frustrating days when skis don’t match fitness. Finished 59th, a few placed behind your friend Milne. There was a good scattering of triathletes in the top 30. Paul Tolomiczenko was 11th overall (he is a Kona finisher from this year in 11 flat) and Pierre lavoie who won the 40-44 at Kona was top 30. 49 year old former 2:12 Marathoner Mike Dyon (president of Brooks Canada) was 23rd.
I did not hear of the guy who had a heart attack and died. Yikes. I was out on Sat with the kids I coach doing the 5K classic when this would have happened in the 50K.
