For those of you that haven’t seen the new '05 Ultegra stuff, here is a complete listing of the product including the 3x10 grouppo, and new wheels & seatpost. This is going to make an awesome $2500 full carbon fiber road bike…if some bike comapany were to make it.
That’s very exciting to hear Tom.
Especially since 2005 is going to be the year that I finally get off the '74 Fuji and onto a “real” road bike.
Just gotta get that nice check from Uncle Sam around tax time. Until then me and my 10 speeds and 1 1/4" tires will be dreaming of a new Soloist…
Out of curiosity, is spring (March-ish) a good time to buy a new bike? I would think inventory would be pretty good then, but no big sales or anything. Any thoughts?
As a consumer I LOVE these big advances in technology because it means last years model gets much cheaper if it doesn’t have the “latest and greatest”
.
Good point. But luckily Ebay and the internet in general have made it easier to access the poor planning souls. I still won’t have the cash for a bike for another couple of years anyways. This tri thing is REALLY expensive to start.
Not for OEM, I don’t have all the details on sizes. I’m anticipating a “MEGA-Range” rear cassette, like an 11-29 or something like that but that’s a guess… I think if the cranks remain the same material, you won’t see a 180mm.
Truvative makes an “affordable” 180 mm crankset. When I can release more about Ultegra 10s, I will.
When you say Truvative makes an “affordable” 180 mm crankset, does affordable mean around $200? That is the general price I found when I looked around online for their non-single speed 180 mm crank.
Very nice stuff. I’m super happy with Ultegra and can’t hardly tell the difference from Dura Ace.
Actually I’m really looking for a new engine for my bike. The one I’ve been using is completely broken and in need of an overhaul. Would be easier and cheaper for me just to buy a new one.
