Oh please… say it isn’t so…
I hope this is a joke, I don’t know about you , but I’ve booked flights and hotels, and a car already…But it would be par for the course as far as our Nationals have gone the past few years…
That’s exactly our problem. We have made all the bookings, and some cannot be changed! :S
You know what? Seems like I’m going to SOMA Triathlon after all…
eh? You are kidding, right?
No, he’s not kidding. The dates on the two sites do not match, and I wish to hell someone from USAT would get their ass on here and clear it up. I know they are out there, because they are all over the other threads…
will try to email the RD tonight, maybe if I’m lucky I’ll get a reply. Haven’t heard anything about this and I’m pretty sure I would have if anything was up. You know, it’s cool to have Worlds in your home town, but I think people living in the area of the race are really going to hate triathletes after that weekend. The RD will probably put on a great race but they are shutting down quite a bit of a very popular and trafficked area for quite a long time. Some of the reactions we had to the Honolulu Tri here were pretty bad and that was only 1000 people…
As of 2 weeks ago, discussions with a Honolulu-based director representing PEM (the management/race company managing the AG Worlds) the race will now be on Sunday Oct 9. Basically 2,000+ athletes with a lot of wave starts.
Oh yeah… and the swim is not at Kaimana (as per website), but at Queens Beach - 2 loop coarse.
This latest info has not been officially changed on the AG Worlds website, but apparently that is the latest.

Thanks, but are your legs still hairy or did you shave down for Honu;)
I hope Worlds ends up going off smoothly. I sure wish they’d switch that swim back to Kaimana, it would be so much smoother with the single open ocean course. It can get really really choppy later in the day at Queens beach and if you’re in a later wave those rollers will kill you swimming parallel to shore. At Kaimana either you have current going out or heading in but it is fairly balanced and the waves are fairly big but don’t really break in the channel. Should be interesting:)
I’ll be at SOMA. Supposed to be a great race. Let me know if you want to get in on a hotel room. Right now I have one friend going for sure…
Anyone know how to qualify to Worlds via USAT?
Yep, place top 10 in your AG at AG Nationals in August in Kansas City.

I’m only doing SOMA if they change the date of the ITU AG Worlds.
Anyway thanks and I’ll stay in touch if things turn to SOMA triathlon. SAC told me you are on my Age Group so we’ll probably stay REALLY in touch during the race
Ok people, so I have some updates! Seems like the date on the ITU site is wrong the AG Worlds will still be held in Honu in October 9th
The event is still on October 9th.
I hoep your training is going well.
