Oooooooooooh … I have got to check this out at Interbike.
At IMC FSA had a booth with all its products. They had these bars and then the clip-on’s with the base bar and stem assembled together right next to the integrated. Very hard to tell a difference between the two set-ups unless you looked closer and the integrated was heavier than the setup of individual components.
Yeah…I’ve been super impressed with my non-integrated VT assembly. Its light, aero, “cheap”, looks cool and is super adjustable. I guess if I wanted something heavier, less adjustable and more expensive I’d be interested in the integrated setup. When I was shopping around I instantly lost interest in the Hed and Oval integrated bars after looking at the lower tech VT option.
Its a little weird that the VT non-integrated system is getting so little press or formal review (although TD has raved about it informally in his posts here). I would think that tri bike manufacturers would line up to stock these on their rigs as part of the default kit.

Dude, seriously, stop telling people about this combo. They are hard enough to find, and good reviews only makes it harder. Wait a couple weeks, I should have mine by then, and then you can tell the world how great they are so people will rush out and buy them. 
the combo of base bar and carbon clip ons is a very good looking set up, and not to worry about finding it. I just bought the set up at Nytro on Monday and they have a deep inventory of both the base bar and both carbon and al. clip on bars from VT.

Mike, you think the setup would work for the pursuit bike I am building up? Seems like a great deal and nice bar/extensions.
Those Ovals would look perfect on my red Carbo…
not real sure yet. So far I just have one ride in on them, a 20 mile ride on the bike path in Oceanside, including a 10 minute time trial. Pursuits put a lot more pressure on the bars, especially in the start. I’ll have a better idea after my Tuesday ride next week as that one will include a 5 mile time trial along the coast so there will be a bit more rolling hills and a better chance to check of flex.
the non-integrated VT armrests look higher in the pics than the integrated set, is that adjustable?? can you place the armrests in the non-integrated set at the base-bar level (IOW really low)??

Yes - all the Vision Tech bars (integrated and clipon) include 12.5mm and 25mm aluminum ‘risers’ and three different length mounting bolts. That means that there is a possibility of 4 pad heights - no risers, 12.5mm riser, 25.0mm riser, and 12.5 + 25.0 stacked (not recommended by VT though).
FWIW the non-integrated armrests look lower than the integrated armrests even when using the 12.5mm riser. So, yes, it can go really low.
