“Greece’s efforts to complete work for this summer’s Olympic Games have been hit by a one-day strike by the country’s largest trade union.”
Does anyone think that these games are going to come off as anything other than a joke this year? The story quotes the contractors as not concerned because any time lost can easily be made up by overtime or working weekends!
Hmm, I bet if I get off the bike after 7 ½ hrs, I can still break 10 hrs by just running the second half of the marathon faster. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Why didn’t I think of that before?
European countries where the sun shines a little more than in Germany, have something in common. Nothing goes ever according to the plan, most of the time, there is no plan. But they have something else in common, at the end it somehow works out just fine.
Those Olympics are going to be the sweetest we have seen in a long time! Why? Because those people have their heart and soul in it, otherwise the last minute quick fix would never work, and heart and soul, that’s what the olympics are all about.
I am sure there are going to be many problems that people complain about. I don’t really care. The atletes will show up. They will compete against each other. There will be winners and losers. A few spoiled athletes will complain about the terrible conditions.
At the end of the day the best athletes in the world will compete to the best of their ability under conditions that are fair to all. That is what they call the Olympics.
Gee, do you think the original Olympic athletes had a roof over their air conditioned stadium? Don’t think so, and I don’t think they complained.
Everything came together fine in Barcelona, and they take 3 hour lunch breaks!!! Maybe, the Spanish/Latino work ethic is a little more strict than the Greeks. I don’t see many Andropolouses (Andropoli???) picking tomatoes around here. The big college parties downnashore don’t happen on Spanish week. See what I’m getting at???
