Anyone riding one? I think Tom D. was riding a 5000, but not the 2000. Anyway, my LBS has one at a decent price - 52 w/650’s. With snow today and a busy schedule, I won’t be able to ride it for a weekend or two. But I jumped on and felt very comfortable. I know - fit! (this LBS also just became FIST certified.) If all goes well, it will be my new ride (need to sell the old one), but I’m interested in hearing some feedback…
I have the exact bike you’re talking about. I’ve had it since Sept. It’s a really nice bike. Very comfortable, light, and fits me really well. The top tube is a little shorter than most comparable bikes, which is good for me because I have long femurs. Nothing but good things to say about the bike, except that the paint job is a little funky (but I don’t mind it).
Just bought mine last month. Silver. 56 cm. Due to the weather, I too have not had the pleasure of riding outside, but the trainer sessions have been great. I spent months researching my fit and I ended up with this one. So far I am very pleased. Good luck.
I have a 2004 Cannondale IM 2000 (in size 60 w/ 700s), and I have only great things to say about it. I bought it from Tom Demerly and I have been riding it since late-May 2004. It’s my first tri-bike, and it is truly a superb machine. It is very well-made, fits me perfectly thanks to the folks at Bikesport, and the paint-job is sweet! I honestly can’t think of a negative thing to say about it. You will be happy with this purchase.
Great bike, I have a 2004 IM 5000 which is similar to the 2000 but with hollowgram cranks and the wheel cutout. Nice and light, handles great and doesn’t beat you up. A friend of mine just got a 5000 after riding a 2000 for a while (sponsored by Cdale) and he can’t tell much of a difference.
I’m pretty sure the 2004 IM2000 and IM5000 frames are the same. The differences in the bikes are cranks (as you mentioned), wheels (the 5000 has Zipp 404s, the 2000 has Ksyrium Elites), and more Dura Ace on the 5000. Both frames have the wheel cut-out.
Thanks for all the feedback… I had a small window of opportunity to check it out Sunday and put a deposit on the bike (sale price is $1799.) I obviously need to spend more time on it, and be fitted, but it felt very comfortable. I’ll provide some more details as I go and will be FIST fit on the bike.
Now to sell my old bike and wheels to keep peace with the wife!!!
The BB bracket is different as well. I was under the impression that C’dale’s Hollowgram cranks/BB that come on the 5000 only fit frames that were specifically designed for them, meaning they wouldn’t fit the 2000. Am I wrong?
