18 year old Chris Derrick 13:44

Stanford Freshman, Chris Derrick, ran 13:44 at the Washington Invite and essentially ran by himself to win. It’s not official, but as far as I know it’s the 3rd fastest junior time EVER in the US…AND he just turned 18. It shouldn’t be a surprise, as he ran the fastest HS meet 5000m last year (13:55). It’s nuts with how fast some of these younger guys are running right now. Good things, good things

WOW, that time might actually squeak him into the top 30, 18 year old Kenyan’s

16th Kenyan junior in 2008, actually. Now that adds some perspective, doesn’t it?

Perspective that there are other people faster? Sure. Only 2 others in U.S. history, though. You need to start somewhere, and it is a good start. I was impressed.
