Does this seem a little large? I thought they generally tried to keep waves under 100. I was hoping they’d split it up into 2 or 3 waves, but I guess I should just be prepared for an awful lot of kicking and scratching.
All the other waves are about the same size…
Correction: I just checked the web site and it says that waves are generally 80-150. I guess they figure at least 20 won’t show.
I guess they must be. Hey, it may not even make a difference…
Checkthe link below! All beaches closed in Chicago wind is currently ENE so no chance of the canal water blowing out in the lake overnight,This should be interesting!

Oh crap…I mean darn.
Signs all over at the expo today, “swim is on, will not be cancelled…”.
Not only was the water freezing it smelled like crap & fuel.
so it was back to normal then…lol
.
pretty much although the water smelled alot worse than usual. Always enjoy the bike parts yard sale on LSD!
68 degrees my butt. That water was freezing. Did you have a good race?
I had an ok race, 27 minute swim but then the addl 3 to T1 so 30 min, just as I was about to leave T1 I looked down to see my chip was gone, ran back to my trans area found the chip had peeled off w/my wetsuit. I was 5 minutes faster overall than last year.
How was your race? That water had to be 63!
Good. 26:55 swim 1:06:03 bike 41:14 run for a 2:17:10. It’s my first olympic in a couple of years and it’s a PR by almost 7 mins. It was funny, when my wave jumped in the water everybody looked around like, “WTF, this water’s freezing.” Great weather though. Fortunately I went off pretty early as it definitely warmed up a bit by the end of the day.

It did NOT smell like crap… you’re kidding right?
It did smell and taste like diesel at times, though.
