165 mm FSA Cranks?

John Cobb responded to a my post in that crank thread saying that I should try 165mm cranks. Who am I to argue?

I can’t seem to find any 165 mm cranks that will fit on my FSA Crankset. I’m willing to get a whole new crank set too (something nice). I have FSA slk-light (carbon one) right now.

Any suggestions guys? Links to deals would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If you currently have FSA cranks I am guessing it is a Shimano drivetrain.

Here are Shimano Ultegra cranks on sale for $145 and they have some in 165.

If you want compact, these are the Ultegra level Shimano compact cranks, also available in 165, but they are full price right now at $260.

If you aren’t on Nashbar’s email list, sign up. A 10-20% off coupon comes out at least a couple times a week. I got the Ultegra level compacts when they were on sale for about $150 and I had a 20% coupon so I got them for like $120. I prefer Shimano cranks to FSA anyway.

If you can swap out your own bottom bracket, want to try some for cheap and are not too into posing to use aluminum over carbon fiber you can try this:

http://www.google.com/products?q=bulletproof+cranks&rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7DKUS_en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=45KqSrDtIILysQOMw_D8BA&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1

They make them in many lengths and you can’t beat the price.

Add a $20 shimano un-54 bb of Nashbar and the whole set-up costs you about $70 with shipping.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up buying the shimano ultegra crankset. I’m going to switch the FSA cranks I have to my road bike which will be a major upgrade.
