anyone else tired as hell?
Yes…and with this taper thing I’m beginning to get grouchier than normal!
Paul
lol… I wonder if my libido will come back.
I’m the opposite. My broken toe has kept me from doing any running and I’m itching to get some in. Hopefully by Sunday. I also noticed that since I’m not sweating as much because of fewer workouts, I have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Funny how much training affects you.
I have been tired all summer, but the heat of the last few weeks has been a killer. I am thrilled to finally be tapering…
it has been a killer. Fortunately we’re having a cold spell- it’s only 95 today. A local meteorologist said that these temps can be expected for at least another two weeks. I hope he’s wrong.
Maybe it’s wishful thinking but the very long range forecast (15 days out) from Accuweather is showing a decent decline in temps right before the key weekend…
god, I hope that’s right!
Actually, now that my longest key workouts have been completed, I’m feeling pretty good! I did have an Iron Nightmare last night, though. This is my first IM and I dreamed that I couldn’t find my stuff in T1 and I was the last person to leave it out of all the competitors. Terror has definitely set in, and I can’t wait to cross that finish line. =)
I am tired, but I can’t tell if its the excessive heat, sleep deprivation from work, or the impact from the cumulative mileage over the last several months. Regardless, the next two weeks won’t get here soon enough. I’m very close to making my A goal: making it to the START line healthy, physically and mentally. As for race day temperatures, I can’t control 'em so I can’t worry about 'em. This is going to be a long, fun day regardless of temperatures.
Happy tapering everyone!
Nope. I did IM France and it took me 4-5 weeks to fully recover from that. As a result I’m just getting back into the swing of peak training.
I’m sooo looking forward to tapering! Usually I hate it. Just ran 13 last night in 106 degree (heat index). Not worried about the weather any more as it can’t be as hot as I’ve training in the last 2 weeks. I’ve given up all hope for a wetsuit swim as well.
Like some others, the taper is completely welcome. My body was fried from the last 3 high volume weeks and I was mentally starting to burn out. I now feel pretty good and am thrilled with the shorter (some with higher intensity) workouts. The short stuff just seems so incredibly easy now which gives me a lot of confidence in my overall fitness. I’m definitely antsy though!
