10 or 9 speed

I am building up a new bike and am at a point where I need to make a decision. I just bought some newer Ultegra dérailleurs, cassette, and chain (all 9 speed) from the kind folks here on ST, but the dérailleurs are both 9 speed but can work with 10 speed, I know. The chain and cassette will not work with 10 speed I also know.

Right now, I can’t afford to get a new 10 speed cassette, and chain, I just bought the new Ultegra 10 speed with the newer BB, so that is ready for any future upgrade. My question is should I go ahead and get 10 speed bar ends for the future, them being dura-ace and get a JTEK shiftmate (an extra $35) or save $15 and get the 9 speed.

keep in mind that I am on a very tight college student budget.

10…more is MORE
.

What would you gain by going to 10s? Stick with 9s, unless you think that 10s will be a huge performance advantage.

I shouldn’t have a problem with the 6600 crank working with the 9 speed stuff should I?

Nope, it’ll work.
