#1 Seeds looking pretty darn good

UNC - Their defense has been outstanding, and Hansbrough is as good as advertised (duh). THey’ve been dominant all year, and it continues.

KU – Again, great defense. The one thing I see with them is that their athleticism is so good that the seem to take a lot of off-balanced, fade-away, arobatic shots, when a better positioned shot would do. They shut down Curry (9 of 25 shooting) and yet were in a tight game. Either Davidson’s defense was much better than anyone thought, or Kansas just did not prepare (or have the skill) on how to pass out of double-teams.

The UNC-KU matchup is an interesting one given both schools’ history and Williams coaching against the program he built up. I pick UNC.

Memphis – Well, the media keeps pickig against them and talking about free throws, and Memphis keeps blowing folks out. They are the most athletic team left. I dig Memphis. They completely overwhelmed Texas, a very good team. Rose is just out of this world, he goes sky high for a defensive rebound and then pushes it the length of the floor, past all defenders, and then slams it home. It seems to do whatever the heck he wants to do. NBA, here he comes.

UCLA – Another athletic team. I’m not too impressed with their guard play lately in the tournament. Love has been outstanding.

Memphis - UCLA – I pick Memphis, but like many folks I would like to see Love v. Hansbrough, but I just ain’t all that impressed with UCLA as compared to the other 3 teams, even though they are very good.

1st time ever all #1 seeds have made it to the final four. Should be a good one.

BTW, anyone not following the NBA is missing out on some exciting basketball.

NCAA sucks… last year it was 3 No. 1 seeds and a No. 2 seed (UCLA, who could have arguably been No.1), this year it’s all 4 No. 1 seeds… guess what I’m going to choose next year?

Oh, and GO WARRIORS!!!

The only thing I take issue with is your statement that Williams built up the Kansas program. KU won the title in 1988, before Williams signed up. And he has been gone long enough that all of the players are now Bill Self’s recruits. In all time wins, it is Kentucky (1,966), UNC (1,946) and Kansas (1,938).

That being said, this year I have to give the edge to UNC in the semis.

I have to say that Davidson had to be the best 10 seed in the history of the tournament, knocking off Gonzaga, Georgetown and Wisconsin, and almost Kansas. They completely took away the Kansas transition game, which I haven’t seen happen in years.

I have UCLA winning the final in my pool, but after watching them in the tournament I am not so sure anymore. But anyone can have a good or bad game, or get into foul trouble.

Can’t wait for Saturday.

UNC is going to take it. I am not a fan of theirs but I think it will be them and UCLA. We will see how it shakes out.

Good point. Larry Brown won w/ Danny Manning in 88. Naismith was at kansas also.

A guy from my high school, Norm Cook (Boston Celtics, Father of Brian Cook – LA Lakers) is in KU Hall of Fame.
