My 2004 P3alu has the internal headset and 1".
These are becoming a little more rare(i.e. havent seen an online shop selling them), should I buy an extra and stock it away for the future? Or perhaps just replacement bearings?

I have the smae ocd worries but managed to restrain myself in on this one. You’ll always be able to find them if you look hard enough and how many will you ever need before the bike or you retires? one? two at the absolute most?
I’d leave it be or you’ll kick yourself when you write the frame off in a crash and have an obsolete headset on the shelf rubbing salt in the wound.
seriously, I contacted Cervelo and IRD (who make a lot of slightly weird, necessary stuff)

Cervelo responded with this:
Same as the second link above - but my link is cheaper ![]()
I do know what you’re going through - I have an old P2K that I rebuilt completely a while back but I’m convinced you’ll always be able to find at least NOS headsets.
Whenever I buy a bike with anything funky at all, or what I have starts to go out of date or fashion, I buy spare parts then. For a few bucks you get the part and piece of mind.
No use paying a squillion notes for a part in 5-10 years just so you don’t have to throw out a perfectly good beloved frame.
Recently I bought a new bike and asked to buy a new deraillieur hanger. The guy gave me one for free. A few months later, a friend bought a similar bike from the same store. He didn’t get the deraillieur hanger and sure enough, needed one a few months later. They tried to charge him $50 for it, along with exhorbadent prices on other parts.
I now have a range of spare parts for various bikes. I’d rather throw out (or give to Second Hand Racing here on ST) some time down the track, rather than be without a bike at some point. Too easy
I could use the top cap / dust cap (the part that says Cane Creek IS2 in that picture) - if you should purchase a new 'set, I’ll buy that one part off ya. Let me know.
