1/2IM Cali rolldown (not Hawaii)

Hi all

I’m coming back from an injury, and not too sure how next season will go. Being a realist, I’m hesitant to register for anything a year in advance.

Instead of registering now, I’m hoping to qualify for a full IM race (not Hawaii) at Cali next spring. Anyone know how far down the slots rolled last year in W30-34?

I remember that a couple of years ago they were rolling waaaaay down, but I’ve missed the race the past couple years. Anyone have more recent info?

Thanks

With the new 70.whatever series, I am guessing that the qualifying for an IMNA full IM race such as Canada, Placid or Hawaii at one the the halfs like Cali is going bye-bye.

If you want to do a full IM race next eyar, you probably just need to sign up now and roll the dice with your injury. They have not confirmed they are pulling all the qualifying slots out of the halfs. but I think that is the direction they are heading.

Which sucks.

You’re right. That does suck. Thanks for the answer, though.

This makes the non-mdot races even more attractive - vineman here I come.

keep in mind that is purely speculation on Sto’s response and not fact (at least not yet). I still think races like Ralph’s and the Florida half for example will have slots for other Ironman’s. Also keep in mind that WTC still has to try and bribe some of these other non affiliated half IM’s to come under their umbrella, so offering IM slots to give away is one means of doing that.
