1/2 Ironmand Training

I have been training for my first 1/2 Ironman in kona set for the end of May. I signed up for Multisports.Com 1/2 Ironman plan which is eight weeks long. It has you swimming about 60-90 minutes 4 times a week, biking about 9 hours a week, and running about 5 hours a week. Does this sound like about the schedule others have done? They have an entire program for eight weeks that goes into a taper.

Thanks…

I have been using this one for a long course race on 6/20, if you would like to view it for comparison. I train anywhere between 10-15 hours per week.

Depends on your swim skill - I think 4-6 hours of swimming is failrly heavy relative to 9 on the bike and 5 on the run. But swimming is low impact/low injury risk so I’d say it depends on the time. Lets say you go about 5 hours in a half IM - 30 min swim - 2:45 bike - 1:45 run. You only spend 10% swimming…but its close…If I trained 20 hours - I’d go 10 on the bike - 5 on the run - 3 on the swim and use the last 2 hours on your greatest limiter and if you’re balanced - add it to the bike…just my 2 cents…

Thanks Guys…
