I am doing the half ironman in 8 days from tomorrow. I am thinking of doing tomorrow 1k swim in the lake, 30mile bike and then a 6 or 7 mile run. plan to take it very steady is this
advisable? the reason I want to do it is make sure I am eating the right foods(bit late I know, although i eat power bars on the bike) and to give me some confidence for next week, what do you think, is it to close to race day
I say go for it. Just go super easy, take 5-10 minutes between disciplines, nail your nutrition.
Be prepared to bail on the run or 5K in if you feel the effects too bad.
I think you will be fine. Keep your hard efforts relatively short (i.e. on the bike 5:00-10:00 in duration with 5:00 rest between each and no more than 4-5). On the run keep any hard efforts in the range of 3:00-4:00 minutes with equal rest. If you limit the hard stuff to that, you will be fine. NO MORE THAN THAT. IMO, good luck.

This week from monday I have done 750 swim( hangover weekend club event!!)
8 mile run tuesday
wed 2k swim
thursday 10m run
friday nothing
I’m just feeling a bit tired today and thinking is there any point in doing it?
You didn’t mention in your original post you were feeling tired. There is a saying I go by in triathlon: It is better to get to the start line 30 % under trained that 1 % over trained. Get rested up.

what about a 30mile cycle tomorrow?
What does your coach/plan say? Or are you winging it?
